  • killahhh says:

So la habra lost by 7 points to the 2nd ranked team and the eighth team ranked…and they are only tied for 10th?

  • HSFootballfan says:

Esparanza?? what is that charity based on the pass.

  • dovecanyonfan says:

Vote Tesoro vs Dana Hills on Cox Game of the Week. Nov 14th

  • HSFootballfan says:

How is MV ranked higher than San clemente after Tesoro thumps MV and San Clemente almost beat Tesoro???

  • BigDaddy says:

Hey Fryer, how about posting the counties Top 10 wosrt teams?
    Here’s my “All-Public” list:

    10. Huntington Beach
    9. Aliso Niguel
    8. El Modena
    7. Brea Olinda
    6. Woodbridge
    5. El Toro
    4. Northwood
    3. Laguna Beach
    2. Godinez
    1. Saddleback

  • bcsbuster says:

    how is tesoro ranked #1
if they have not played anyone
except mission viejo and san clemente
    who has not played anyone
    compared to the other teams

  • IndianChief says:

Big Daddy, you forgot Troy and Buena Park….

  • BigDaddy says:

IndianChief, I thought about Troy, but they would fall somewhere in the 11-15 range.

  • guy says:

big daddy aliso should be the #1
when you play in 4 different homecoming games as the away team then you know ur bad

  • blank says:

where is capo in that top 10 worst teams?

  • scubamcdaddy says:

bcsbuster, you’re so off base! How can you say that Tesoro hasn’t played anyone? They TROUNCED Mission when Mission was ranked #1. Then they beat a VERY good San Clemente team (from my perch, San Clemente will beat MV handily) on the road when everyone expected a big letdown after the MV rout!

Tesoro is deserving of this ranking. It’s about time they got the credit they have worked so hard for.

  • justaguyinoc says:

This ranking is ridiculous. How is Esperanza #1? Right below San Clemente? San CLemente’s only loss is to the #1 team, and came with 1 yard to convert a 4th down at Tesoro 15. How are there 6 teams between SC and Tesoro? Mission and SC both have 1 loss, both to Tesoro. How they played Tesoro meant nothing?? How is Servite #7 after losing 3 games? Private school bias is ridiculous. Don’t tell me they played tough schedule. Yes, they did, and they lost most of those tough games. Just like college, Penn State deserves to rank ahead of USC right now cuz USC f’ed up. I don’t know if SC will beat Servite heads up, but based on what they have done so far, SC should be ahead of Servite. So what if you scheduled tough, you lost 3 of the 4 tough games! I am just glad Newport is out. I called them overrated. Where is that one guy, greenjoe now?

  • justaguyinoc says:

i meant #9 for esperanza in previous post

  • dc says:

Haha Yeah yeah! Go La Habra! Finally!

  • TESORO #1 says:

its about time, father and son ranking 1 and 2 in the toughest county in america

  • Country says:

La Habra tied with Espy ? La Habra should the sole #9. Unlike Espy, La Habra would have killed Marina. I mean Marina did lose to Westminster, a team La Habra had no problem with it.

  • sc fan says:

sc will win on friday no questions asked

  • Remember the Titans says:

    Finally Tesoro Reached #1
MV should definately be Ahead of SC
    No Questions About That
We will see who wins MV or SC then everyone can talk
    SC sucks

  • fotballlife says:

Tesoro on top, give me a break. You will see they are a fluke, their true solors will come out, and they will be defeated!!!!!! WHen it counts the most.

    SO MV!!!!!

    MV #1

  • anon says:

MV should have dropped below San Clemente. That’s how your 11-15 are ranked by who beat who. So why stop with MV? And esperanza again in the top ten????? OK how many of you voting are from the Sunset league?

  • sc fan says:

really and that is why mission got blown out by tesoro and sc got within 15 yards of beating tesoro hmm!! answer me that if sc sucks

  • schs (big time) says:

every one know that san clemente should have won that game and its good to see tesoro QB getting pressure and tesoros o line is big but they cant top speed. speed kills

  • Servite #1 says:

How can Edison be ahead of servite when servite owned them????

And dont just rank us that low because of our record!
look at the teams we have played compared to MD Edison and everyone else.
We have the hardest scheduele ever so we should at least be ahead of Edison

  • billy says:

fotballlife- you have no idea what you are talking about, tesoro has worked hard to earn this ranking, and since they have beaten MV TWICE now the last two games, you should just crawl back in your little cave of ignorance and get over the fact that Tesoro is officially a better football team than MV.

  • warren says:

You have La Habra just right

  • Stefanie says:

I couldn’t agree more with BCSBUSTER. You are so right, there is no way Tesoro should be ranked #1. The fans should not vote for the real top 10, it should be left up to the writers. There could be a fan poll for fans to vote.

  • Hi School Football Expert says:

Tesoro is for real. Don’t start in with that ‘San Clemente shoulda won.’ Shoulda coulda woulda means nothing. Check your recent history. Tesoro has beaten both San Clemente AND Mission TWO YEARS IN A ROW. Both SC and MV are perennial top 10 teams and two of the finest programs in the county. Face it. The balance of power has shifted. This team deserves the number one spot. Tesoro’s rise should be no surprise. It’s been in the making for several years. Tesoro was in the OC top ten on a regular basis even when they were in Division IX a few years ago, where as a new program they regularly whipped upper division teams and won two back to back CIF championships. And using only local talent. Get over it.

  • hiramv says:

lets look at some scenarios for this week. what if fountain valley, san clemente, and esperanza lose. they play los al, mission, and newport harbor, respectively. are you still going to rank them high because they lost to good teams? a loss is a loss.

  • anon says:

After Fountain Valley, Esperanza, and, I think, Mission lose next week, they need to be de-throned. Mission, sorry, but I just don’t see you taking the win over San Clemente this year. nothing personal

  • Uncle Beefy says:

Tesoro might be #1, but if they played Los Al, OLU, Mater Dei, or Edison, they would not be favored. I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost again to a Trinity League At-Large in the first round.

Servite should be above Mission Viejo. How awesome would that be if after MV loses to SC, they get upset by Dana and don’t make the playoffs.

  • Xxaapp says:

Polls are opinions… deal with it! Based on how the rankings were in previous weeks the outcome should be no surprise to anyone. This poll isn’t a prediction of how it will end in the playoffs, this is a who is hot “This Week”. Tesoro will remain the number one team until playoffs. Congratulations Tesoro!

The reason that Los Al is not number one should be simple, instead of running up the score against La Habra, they were good sportsmans and tried to kill the clock and take the 21 point win. This gave La Habra the ability to claw back within 7 points, so everyone that was not at the game or a La Habra fan including the registers reporter there, actually thinks it was close. In the end Los Al learned, no good dead EVER goes unpunished!

I am surprised that Griffmom isn’t here calling everyone a hater because Los Al isn’t ranked number one.

  • HSFootballfan says:

    Xxaapp,

So La habra scored 14 points because of dumb coaching by the Los AL coaches at the end of the game???LOL

  • Jerri says:

    Hey Xxaapp -
Like I said before…football is FOUR QUARTERS!!! Every coach knows that and if you can’t implement that you don’t deserve to be #1. Good Sportsman like conduct…PLEEEEEEASE…..There was a crowd of over 3,000 people there and you honestly believe that Barnes wanted to show his good sportsman like conduct???? Barnes and every player there wanted to walk out big and tall with the big man lead of 21 but guess what??? they had their “head” on the bus going home with minutes to play. We lost, that’s okay, but don’t make excuses for the Score…take it like a man….

  • killahhh says:

If a team still has their main players in the game in the fourth quarter how is that not trying to run up the score. You know that La Habra had a legit comeback in the end, with the starters in for Los Alamitos. La Habra got those points because they are a great team…La habra lost to san clemente in a nail biter by 7, and that same san clemente team lost to #1 ranked tesoro in a close game as well, thats another example. If Los Alamitos (a very large school) is proud of beating La Habra ( a mid sized school) by only 7…just wow.

  • tom o says:

Los Al had La Habra HANDLED when I left with 7 minutes left in a very mouthy, trash talking game. Evans hot dogged every time he scored. I’m sure he was responding to abuse as the guy’s not a jerk. Los Al did sit on the ball to not run it up and they learned from the mistake. Be that as it may, Mission, OLu, Servite, MD and probably Tesoro would beat them. Anyone that chooses to can run on them. Edison lost to Los Al (2 yrs in a row) by 4 after losing 3 turn overs. Los Al probably has 2 losses if they played a big time schedule.

  • Top Set says:

Don’t bad mouth Barnes. He owns orange county and is one of the best coaches in county history and state, maybe even the country.

  • Top Set says:

Also any team can win at any time. I was at the Los Al vs. Edison game and I will say that it would have been a lot closer game if Edison didn’t fumble so much. However, with 4:33 to play in the 4th quarter Los Al looked like they were driving to the endzone to make it 30-10 but the final was 23-19 and people think that was a close game. It just goes to show you any team can win.

  • confused says:

“It’s difficult to keep Laguna Hills higher than this, given the type of competition taken on by the teams ranked ahead of the Hawks.”

really? ok, let’s look at common competition laguna hills and teams ranked ahead of them have had.

dana hills 56 el toro 26 newport harbor 42 corona del mar 13
san clemente 28 el toro 3 laguna hills 34 corona del mar 7
laguna hills 33 el toro 7

laguna hills has also beaten #21 canyon and an underrated segerstrom team which is ranked #3 in the southern division. compare pre-league schedules with the likes of esperanza’s. mount miguel and comton centenial??

  • killahhh says:

Football games have FOUR quarters. Not 3 quarters and 5 minutes. If you can’t put a team away, either the Los Al isn’t that good, or La Habra…like is said…deserves to be ranked higher than that.

  • hiramv says:

i’m confused, too. laguna drops 2 spots to #14? i see it like this:
    #1 los alamitos
    #2 tesoro
    #3 orange lutheran
    #4 mater dei
    #5 edison
    #6 servite
    #7 san clemente
    #8 la habra
    #9 mission viejo
    #10 laguna hills
    #11 dana hills
    #12 esperanza
    #13 fountain valley
    #14 newport harbor
    #15 foothill
    #

  • MVrascals says:

Honestly, mission did get beat bad by Tesoro. They were out coached that night. But I honestly feel if they were to play eachother 10 times, the games would split 5-5; and yes Tesoro should be number one!

  • GE_KRUEGER says:

Tesoro go play Poly and win…Then talk

  • GE_KRUEGER says:

Los Al, go play Poly and win … Then talk

  • BFF2008 says:

Rankings mean very little. it is whee you finish that counts. Rankings give people something to chew about all week. in the end Mission Viejo will be where they belong, In the Championship Game in Carson. Chew on that for awhile.

  • DB says:

Killah.. where would you liked them ranked if they lost to a 8th ranked team? you should be happy at 10

  • Top Set says:

True, Poly is the team to beat in California.

  • dc says:

Well if the coaches for los al were dumb enough to think la habra would just lay down and die then they deserve to be where they are, coaches are apart of the team as well, so if the coaches make dumb mistakes it reflects the team, I know barnes is a good coach, but there was a lapse of judgement in that decision, so if you say la habra isnt good because they had a hard time scoring on the first team squad is lame, they did well against them, just a few mistakes, if they would of kept the first team in maybe it would of been a blow out, but at the end of the game it wasnt. so i totally lost the point of my argument, but you get the idea. coaches are just as important as the players, you cant win with bad coaching.

  • Tom O says:

POLY IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE THE TEAM when enrollment hovers around 4,800.

  • anon says:

    I put this up on another blog, but it probably belongs here: If you take the OC Stat Leaders and break down per team, you will NOT see anyone from Esperanza nor Newport Harbor on any of the six top 20 leaderboards. You will only see ONE team (from OC Ranked top 15) with 8 entries: Dana Hills. You will only see 2 teams with 5 different players: #2 Los Al, #13 Dana Hills. You will see 4 teams with players in 5 separate categories: #1 Tesoro, #2 Los Al, #9 La Habra and #13 Dana Hills. PLEASE would someone put Dana Hills in the TOP TEN next week. They are the most underrated team in this county!!! Dana Hills: #1 PASSING YARDS Sean Schroeder, 2,066;
#2 TD PASSES Sean Schroeder, 23; #2 RECEVING Dylan Denso,: 802;#9 SCORING Dylan Denso, 78 ;#14 SCORING Brett Giesen, 70#14 RUSHING Brett Giesen, 790; #17 RECEVING Connor St. Clair, 459; #19 RECEVING Peter Adams, 454;

  • dkeith says:

How did Poly get into this whole orange county top ten ranking argument! Oh I get it!! None of this really matters when the Pac-5 playoffs start. LONG BEACH POLY will knock off any off those teams with there second unit. GO POLY!!!

  • gregg says:

If ny of these teams(MV) included had the balls to play Centennial in Corona except MD , who homered us last year and got htere butts kicked this tear, just like crespi the last 3 yrs etc, etc We would love to play any of these south coast teams

  • gregg says:

by the way centennial does it with 2400 students year after year…

  • dkeith says:

Poly tried to set up a two year home/away contract to play Corona Centenial before the season started , but Centennial took to long to reply so Poly put St. Bonaventure on the schedule. Was Centennial avoiding Poly? HuH? I wonder? 4800 students 2400 students you only can play 11 at a time. By the way Poly beat St. Bonny.

  • gregg says:

poly and centennial are the tems to beat in so cal!!

  • hiramv says:

big props to newport harbor (enrollment 2400) for playing poly the last 2 seasons.

  • Deefend says:

I don’t know if anyone remembers the game against Olu-vs Poly, last year. Score Poly-2 Olu 0 Now from what I saw , Olu pretty much controlled that game through out the night. Kunau…. went for the 6 points instead of the field goal.

    OUCH…

  • gregg says:

It is getting harder for centennial to get games,Coach Johnson, give coach Logan a call !!!! Rollins has already said no more Centennial games..we have an opening!

  • gregg says:

Due to our larger league (big eight) we only have three openings instead of 5 pre season..ply -centennial next year, that would be something to look forward to,,last year poly 2 crespi 0 centennial 41 -crespi 20 and crespi ran back a kickoff and an interception !!

  • Tom O says:

I wouldn’t say Ulu controlled that game, but they easily could’ve won 3-2. They’ve had the d-Line size and linebacking quickness to play with Poly’ the last 2 years. From what I saw vs. Bosco last week they still can shut down the run. If they play vs.Servite like they played last week the guys in black are in for a long night. I also give props to Harbor for playing Poly - that’s real heart. Los Al couldn’t get away from Olu fast enough after back to back arse kickings. Don’t mean to bad mouth Barnes but the last 2 times Los Al’s been in the playoffs they’ve been outsocred like 98-14 (Colton in 05, MV 06) and last year they don’t even get to the dance. They’ve got skill and some speed but any good team that commits to run can do so for 300-350 on them . Just an opinion, but it’s based on seeing them 4 times so far.

  • gregg says:

    oops poly 13 -crespi 3

  • tampa4life says:

Who cares about La Habra…Who cares about Poly….who cares about the private schools….Who has been in the playoffs consistently in the past 20 years…..LOS ALAMITOS…..thats right….Whats with the ” well if they played this team and that team…blah blah blah…Stop with the B.S. and let the teams duke it out in the playoffs….where huh…Los Al is always counted on going…year after year….Oh yeah….Barnes Kid is the coach at Tesoro by the way….Thats Los Als offense you see them running…..Maybe you all should take notice…Now let me hear your crys and opinions….wait….better yet….the jealousy…..Dont hate….repect to Mater Dei, Esperanza, and Edison. These teams are there in the hunt year after year as well…let me see those crys again…..GO GRIFFINS!! 96 GRAD

  • dkeith says:

Mr. Gregg there is no doubt about it Centennial is a very good football team, but for them to really be cemented as the best team in the state they need to play in the Pac-5 playoffs. With Mater Dei, OLU, Notre Dame, Poly, Servite, Crespi, Los Al, Tesero, M.V. , Edison, Loyola, Compton… The list goes on and on, waiting to play you. Don’t get me wrong much respect to the Inland Empire and there programs are on the rise, but at this point they are not even close to the level of talent that the Pac-5 provide. I don’t think Mater Dei is avoiding playing Centennial anymore or anybody. Just look at the teams they have to deal with in the Trinity league. If the bowl committee selects Centennial over the Pac-5 champion. It will be highway robbery (again).

  • Top Set says:

What Cif Championship has La Habra won? Nobody knows and everyone loses in the playoffs year after year except one team. Los Al won a championship in 03 (not that long ago). A Division I Championship! Also they are in the hunt every year and this year they have a great team led by a great QB. Barnes produces another great one in Evans. He is a beast. His receivers are really good aswell. Poly is still the team to beat but every team should watch out for Los Al.

  • Tom O says:

I believe Los Al was the last PUBLIC school in OC to win the Div I title in ‘03. That’s an accomplishment. For 15 years they won 11-12 per year, just not the past 3 years. This is what’s known as a trend. Evans is a BEAST and he has great wide-outs, Barnes is a fine coach, OC’s all time victory leader. Props for all that. But if anyone thinks they’re in the top 5-6 in OC you need to watch more teams play live. MD, Olu, Servite, MV, Edison all are better. Los Al needs turn-overs and BIG plays to win. Their run D is average at best. They just don’t have the lines and LB’s to be elite. They could still miss the playoffs for a 2nd straight year. They lost tonite to FV, still have to play Harbor and Espy. Espy is a bit down, but they could run for 350 vs. Los Al and get a W. I respect homers. It’s great to pull for your team, just be objective when looking at them vs. other top 10 teams. I respect the Los Al homers, my kids used to go there, I just don’t drink the kool-aid.

  • fealofani says:

La Habra was the only team last year to go undefeated and win it all in Southern California they have a good team and a big quarterback

  • fealofani says:

Sunset League Champions Fountain Valley H.S. Barons next week the Bell Game Los Alamitos Lost tonight they are done feeding on scraps from the Sunset to get into the playoffs they need to win one of the next two games to get in.

Los Al beat Edison, Barons beat Los Al, next week Barons beat Edison top of the food chain. Anon and hiramv please keep talking it up because if want to throw stats up there….Middlebrook is the only running back combined from the south coast league, sunset league, and the trinity league ranked top five and ranked top in kick off and punt returns kiohead

  • fealofani says:

Everyone knows that Los Al is quarterback and wide receive school please go after some running backs in the off-season try looking in the Junior All-American programs that where you’re find speed because the entire Trinity League have been shopping in the Junior All-American programs not pop warner.

  • hiramv says:

talofa…… legit. top 10. my rankings viewpoint has changed. great win. how about those aztecs? ouch!

  • fealofani says:

yeah brudda talofa, they’re carry the momentum next week into the Bell Game the greatest rival in the OC although my friend Sapolu is at Edison…Jesse momoli atu le alofa it’s in the game USO

  • hiramv says:

    any relation to eric momoli?

  • hiramv says:

well, for sure esperanza falls out of the top 14. fountain valley in top 10. what about san clemente? dana hills and la habra have that momentum everybody is talking about, but they both lost to san clemente! good win for newport harbor. laguna hills’ defense is pretty good at 8-0. we will see on monday!

  • Mike McClanahan says:

Dont ever count out the great programs such as Mission Viejo. Tesoro deserves to be in the top five but not #1, Mission viejo had a off night how ever, a great porgram will recover. My opinion MV will advance farrther in play off - than Tesoro ever could. MV has won CIF champanships and have played the best teams in the country….over the last 8 years.Who has Tesoro played? #1 should be more cretible than just beating the number one team, and not have ever played power house teams….

  • North OC Fan says:

Guess this week showed everyone has a weak spot and that football is 4 quaters and 10 games plus playoffs.
