CIF just posted the ranking. Again I ask how do you lose 5 of 6 games and move up in the rankings. Three South Coast League teams again. I guess the South Coast League is the second best League in Division II just behind the Trinity League. (OR) If your League has a coach which is on the advisory committee you get three teams ranked automatically. (I guess Long Beach Wilson did not get the memo).

How does Mission Viejo stay in the top 10 when they have lost 5 of their last 6 games.

Corona Del Mar ranked a mere 8th, that seems weak considering the recent win over NP Harbor last week, and Foothill this weekend in the Memorial Tournament.
With all the CIF efforts to disallow a young transfer student from playing with CDM, now they try to keep them low in the rankings!
It will all come out in the wash, you can't hold these guys back, they will be on top when all is said and done.

These are the three coaches from the CIF Division II advisory committee that rank the Division II teams for CIF.

Division II

Tony Martinho
Wilson/ Long Beach
562-433-0481 ext. 6566
martinhosurf@charter.net

Chris Segesman
Mater Dei
714-850-9574
csegesman@materdei.org

Steve Yancey
Capistrano Valley
949-364-6100
sjyancey@capousd.org

Long Beach Wilson
11- wins and 10 - losses (as of Oct 28)
http://www.wilsonboysaquatics.org/WPSchedule.cfm?Team=Var

South Coast League
	League	Overall
Team W-L-T	Win %	W-L-T	Win %
Mission Viejo 3-1-0	0.750	15-9-0	0.625
Dana Hills 3-1-0	0.750	15-11-0	0.577
Tesoro 2-2-0	0.500	14-6-0	0.700
Capistrano Valley 2-2-0	0.500	12-12-0	0.500
San Clemente 2-2-0	0.500	7-12-0	0.368
Aliso Niguel 0-4-0	0.000	11-15-0	0.423

The top 6 in Division II no question are probably the best. But from 7 down it seems to be a toss up. 3 teams from the South Coast League ranked or given consideration (Tesoro and Dana Hills) does not seem to be justified. We will see on Wednesday when three teams from the South Coast League play against three teams from the Century League which League is stronger and should be given more consideration in the Division II CIF rankings.

These rankings are done by CIF and not OC Varsity's Dan Albano.
These rankings are copied from the cifss.org site and reposted here at OC Varsity. The coaches are polled by CIF and this is how the standings come be.

With Mission Viejo’s loss to what will most likely be the Century Leagues fifth place team, Brea Olinda, and their loss to a good, but unranked, Dana Hills, I thought it would be easy to make a case for El Modena (second place in the century League) to move up in the standings. Then I logged on to OC Varsity to find that Mission Viejo had chocked up a victory over 6th racked Wilson Long Beach. This leaves me with two possible conclusions: Mission Viejo is a talented, yet inconsistent team or Long Beach Wilson has been over ranked this season? Mission Viejo has a big opportunity to answer this question in there last regular season game against Laguna Beach; with a victory supporting my first conclusion and a loss supporting the latter. I wish El Mo had the chance to play that game.

It’s hard to draw clear conclusions about Long Beach Wilson and Santiago with OC Varsity’s limited coverage of there schedules. LBW has certainly been beaten-up in their 5 meetings with quality OC teams, but beyond that, there’s little to give me a feeling for the quality of this team. Santiago has beaten a strong Canyon team and Mission Viejo, but lost twice to the South Coast’s fourth place team Capo Valley??

Unfortunately, even if El Mo has decisive victories in their last two regular season games, against Brea and Tesoro, it won’t gain them much more respect in the standings. At this point all El Mo can do is hope for a more positive consideration in this weeks rankings and a first round playoff draw against LBW, Sanitgo, or Mission Viejo to give the boys a chance prove themselves.
