Week 7: By the numbers

Here is by-the-numbers recap of Week 7:

2 – yards lost by San Clemente’s David Espino when he was tackled by Tesoro’s Scott Graves with 1:11 remaining in the game. The tackle helped preserve a 28-23 victory for the Titans.

12-play, 87 yards – The length of Orange Lutheran’s scoring drive to start the fourth quarter against St. John Bosco. The drive ended in a 2-yard touchdown by Garret Gilliland and set the Lancers on the way to a 34-21 victory.

99 yards, 1 TD – Bijon Samoodi’s offensive numbers as Servite defeated Santa Margarita, 39-19.

5 – Touchdowns scored by La Habra’s Ronnie Hillman (three receiving, two rushing) as the Highlanders defeated Troy, 45-0.

7 – Touchdowns by Dana Hills quarterback Sean Schroeder (six passing, one rushing) as the Dolphins bounced back with a 63-13 victory over Capistrano Valley.

11 of 15, 4 touchdowns – First half numbers for Mater Dei quarterback Matt Barkley as the Monarchs took a 28-0 lead over JSerra at halftime. Barkley finished 16 of 22 for 275 yards.

25 yards – Winning field goal kicked by Esperanza’s Tyler Drees to give the Aztecs a 17-14 overtime victory over Marina.

4 – Touchdowns scored by Tustin quarterback Taylor Richardson as the Tillers defeated Canyon, 42-13 to take over sole possession of first place in the Century League.

381 – Rushing yards for Magnolia’s Robert Cruz as the Sentinels defeated Savanna, 39-21. It is Cruz’s third 300-yard performance of the season.

298 – Total yards for El Dorado quarterback Kane Wilson (212 passing, 86 rushing) as the Golden Hawks defeated El Modena, 59-42.

195 - Josh Brannon’s rushing yards to lead Pacifica to a 45-21 victory over Katella. Brannon has rushed for 437 yards in the first two league games for the Mariners.

0 – The number of incompletions by Trabuco Hills quarterback Jason Mayer (10 of 10) as the Mustangs defeated Huntington Beach, 53-14. Mayer passed for 177 yards and two touchdowns.

59, 26, 59 yards – The final three touches for Kennedy’s Kyle White in Thursday’s 41-28 victory over Loara. White finished with 184 yards rushing.

351 – Rushing yards for Western in its 62-0 victory over Century.

24 – Yards per carry for Westminster’s Aaron Garbutt. Garbutt rushed for 192 yards and three touchdown on eight carries in a 49-0 victory over Saddleback.

Did you notice?

Scoreboard operators had a lot of work to do this week.

*Two teams eclipsed the 60-point mark: Dana Hills (63) and Western (62).

*Three teams surpassed 50 points: Mission Viejo (59), Trabuco Hills (53) and El Dorado (59).

*Ten teams topped 40 points: Westminster, Garden Grove and Santiago all hit 49. La Habra and Pacifica hit 45. Tustin, Mater Dei, Fullerton, El Modena and Santiago all reached 42. The Vanguards scored 42 in a loss.

On the opposite side, the week’s lowest scoring game was played between Villa Park and Brea Olinda. The Spartans defeated the Wildcats, 13-2, Friday night.

    actually 12 teams topped 40 points this week….. laguna hills scored 42 against irvine and segerstrom blanked orange 49-0.

    Don’t forget Kennedy scored 41 points on Thursday night, i know it was against Loara but it still counts, so that makes at least 13 teams that had between 40-49 for the week
