OC Varsity ~ High school sports talk by the staff of the Orange County Register

Well, my first season covering girls golf is just about over, and I must say, I we very impressed with the quality of play that I saw this year. These girls are good. And now that the regular season has come to an end, here's who I think are the top six players in the county so far.

If I am way off base, let me know. So here we go... drum roll please...

Victoria Park (Irvine), Ani Gulugian (University), Desiree Dubreuil (Mater Dei), Kristina Nhim (Cypress), Nikki Hanson (Mission Viejo) and Amy Alston (Santa Margarita) Note: the girls are listed in no particular order

You did not mention my kid Amelia Ek. First team all Empire League four straight years. Finished sixth in the state high school finals last year. Named second team all county last two years in-a-row. Defeated Kristina Nhim for the Empire League Championship last week.

Amelia will sign with UC Riverside.

Still cannot figure how you have Santa Margarita in front of Cypress when they have met and Cypress beat them by double digits.

Your all county team would be poor without Amelia Ek, Stacy Kim and Tarah Taylor.
