MISSION VIEJO -- You can’t tell a book by its cover, and you can’t tell a football game by its first three minutes.
Trabuco Hills, down seven points after the first series and failing to cover Huntington Beach’s onside kick, rallied in fine fashion Friday with touchdowns on its first seven possessions en route to a 53-14 Sea View League victory.
Jason Mayer led the Mustangs’ big night. He was 10-for-10 passing for 177 yards and two touchdowns, of 4 yards to Justen Lasch and 55 to Chris Simonton. He was seven for seven for 144 yards in the first half.
"From a leadership standpoint, he got us where we needed to be," said Coach Jason Negro, whose team is rebuilding after reaching the Southern Section Southwest title game last season. "Having him back, it’s a totally different feeling, a totally different team from the first three games."
