OK, let the great OC Football No. 1 debate begin.
A lot of you OCVarsity-maniacs follow your team religiously, but as a writer/blogger for OCVarsity I have to get out there and see as many teams as I possibly can.
I voted for Tesoro to be No. 1 in this past week’s poll after they crushed then-No. 1 Mission Viejo, 31-14, last week. Dan Albano and Steve Fryer also went with Tesoro at No. 1, but the rest of Team OCVarsity went with Edison.
This week, I got to see the two biggest games involving top-10 teams that will effect next week’s new poll. I saw No. 4 Los Alamitos knock off No. 1 Edison, 23-19, on Thursday night and I saw No. 2 Tesoro beat No. 8 San Clemente, 28-25, tonight.
The Griffins are undefeated and have victories over La Habra, Narbonne of Harbor City (No. 1 in LA City Section) and Edison (No. 1 in OC).
Tesoro is undefeated and has victories over Fountain Valley (just beat No. 9 Newport Harbor), Mission Viejo (then-No. 1 in OC) and No. 8 San Clemente.
No matter what a Barnes (Brian at Tesoro and his dad, John, at Los Al) will be the coach of the fifth No. 1 team in the county this season when the new poll comes out on OCVarsity on Monday afternoon.
I’m sticking with Tesoro. I love the Titans massive O’Line, their linebackers, Robbie Picazzo and Preston King is a two-way playing stud. And don’t forget about FB Isaac “The Human Bowling Ball” Tago.
We have been talking aboutĀ the power of the Trinity League and the awesome Sunset League all season, but I believe the best team in the county resides in the South Coast League.
Tesoro deserves to be No. 1.
Sorry coach Barnes and congratulations coach Barnes.
