I find it funny that Capo Valley still insists on putting himself in the top 10. I don't see anything that qualifies his team as being in the top 10. The only good win they have had is over Santa Margarita during a tournament. They also lost to them previously by 6. Can he explain away his loss but not give Santa Margarita a chance to explain away theirs? Unfortunately I don't have access to Long Beach Wilson's record because I would like to know who they have beaten as well. Is there a buddy system going on between the evaluators to keep each other in the top rankings for CIF? How about Mission Viejo being ranked above Santiago/Corona? Mission lost to Santiago, why are they ranked higher? Are we going on the past or are we looking at the games that are actually being played? Mission did beat Esperanza, which is a good win, but they aren't ranked anywhere this year. Try looking around the rest of the division. I would love to put my name to this but looking at the buddy system I don't want my players to suffer for my comments.
D2 Opinions: Capo beat Santiago and had some close wins lately. Mission played horribly against Santiago and lost (I saw the game in the VP Tourn), Santiago Corona team is not bad. San Clemente has enough talents to beat both Capo, Dana and Mission but not consistent. Dana supposed to be stronger but lost to Capo but beat SC also inconsistent. Tesoro and Aliso are last two in the league, my opinion. The record means nothing until playoff comes. Its all about the match up. South Coast League is well known to be this way. Now that D2 is tougher, is it matter? La Canada, VP, Mater Dei, Riverside Poly, JSerra and Servite are top teams that can beat the rest of the top 10 teams by 6-8 goals. (in random order)
My point exactly. Is the South Coast League the only league in Div. 2? It does matter to the teams going to CIF as to how they are ranked. It makes a big difference for the first round games.
When are some state rankings going to be published?
Why is Mission Viejo #8 in D2 when they beat El Dorado 11 - 5 and Laguna Hills 11 - 7? El Modena beat El Dorado 15 - 1 and Laguna Hills 16 - 7. Let's update these rankings!
Division II
El Modena 11, San Clemente 4
Mission Viejo 11, San Clemente 9
El Modena 16, Laguna Hills 7
Mission Viejo 11, Laguna Hills 7
El Modena 15, El Dorado 1
Mission Viejo 11, El Dorado 5
And what about Canyon????
El Modena 7, Canyon 6
Canyon 9, Capistrano Valley 4
Why is Capo still ranked 9th even after a decisive loss to Tesoro. Tesoro beat Capo by eight goals! Come on, now I'm not saying Tesoro is Top 10, but Capo surely is not.
Why is that Perris is showing as #1 in D7 when they havn't played anyone in our division? Currently Katella is in 1st place.
Tesoro's score vs Capo is a bit surprising but again it is a crazy toss up in this SCL. My opinion is Mission 1st, SC 2nd and toss up between Capo, Dana and Tesoro for 3rd. Aliso should be out. Again and again, whoever is having a good day will win. Capo had their run for awhile until last night vs. Tesoro. Elmo may be up in the ranking now and should. The top 3 in this league may go as far as 2nd round until they face the top 7 teams in the CIF ranking...over!
10-24-08 update
El Modena 15, Laguna Hills 3
El Modena 16, Laguna Hills 7
Mission Viejo 11, Laguna Hills 7
Come on guys...
Are you really arguing over who is like tenth in the DII poll. This year there are 7 teams that will be fighting for the four spots in the semis and El Mo, LHHS, MVHS and DHHS will not be among them.
There is a clear line of seperation between MDHS, VPHS, R.Poly, La Canada, Servite, Wilson and JSerra and the rest of the divsion. Argue all you want, you will be luck to make it to the second round.
