It wasn’t exactly a slam-dunk but my vote for No. 1 in the county football poll went to Tesoro, which knocked off previously No. 1-ranked Mission Viejo in impressive fashion. Tesoro can play better than it did Friday and that should be a scary thought for San Clemente this week.
Tesoro could have won that game at least 38-14 but didn’t capitalize on some chances in the third quarter.
I heavily considered Los Alamitos. I saw them beat Narbonne and Narbonne would beat some county top-10 teams. The Griffins might not be dazzling the pollsters, but they are getting the job done. Kinda of like Clark Evans. He sometimes isn’t pretty but he gets the job done, is super tough and makes big plays.
I also looked long and hard at Edison. The Chargers’ loss to Servite hurts their case but before it is all said and done, they could still get my No. 1 vote.
With the parity in county football, there certainly is a chance the South Coast or Sunset league champions won’t be 5-0.
Ok, so here’s what the vote I submitted:
1. Tesoro
2. LosAl
3. Edison
4. Mater Dei
5. OLu
6. San Clemente
7. Mission Viejo
8. Servite
9. Newport Harbor
10. Esperanza

Are you crazy, go look on the blog of the titanics are legit, and take a look at all of the pictures proving that they cheat. Then pick numbner #1. It should be someone that does not cheat.
Are you kidding, what pictures prove tesoro cheats? tesoro straight wrecks and there going to be #1. they deserve to be #1 they have worked harder than any other program i have seen this year.
Teserowrecks, you must not have seen the pictures that notstuckup found on the Tesoro website clearly showing facemask holding, holding on to t-shirts, hands inside of the MV facemask by the Tesoro team. You should take a look before you say anything. And sure, Mission probably has some, but none of the Tesoro people have spent any time looking for the pictures. So kudos to notstuckup for doing that.
I don’t think they cheated when they picked off Bridgeford twice and ran one back for a TD. Good D and a lot of talent. Did they Cheat Last year too? Do you want some Chesse with that whine?.
Switch MD and Lutheran, Top ten looks good other than that. MD W’s come against 11-13 teams. L’s teams are 11-1.
I know Dave, it is so much easier to make fun and call people names, it is so adult of you. That is so much easier than looking at REALITY!!!
Get your head out of the ground!
holding on to a facemask is CHEATING! Just because the refs looked the other way does not make it right!
Gosh, you peoploe are ridiculous!
Just keep lying to yourselves.
I heard they are having a fundraiser at TGI Fridays. I don’t think they use free range food, which means nothing other that food with steroids.
Dude, is it cheating that your QB lives in Newport? Is it cheating that many of your starting line up doesn’t live in the Mission boundaries? Was it cheating when the Molines and Reuhlands played, but didn’t live in the boundaries?
Talk to San Clemente about how Mission cheated them out of Reuhland’s touchdown last year, that clearly hit the ground. They would have won the game.
Your face mask and fumble whining did not cause a touchdown. If your team was able to come back and play, they might have had a fighting chance, but you were totally out played and out coached ALL NIGHT LONG!

Tesoro is clearly the best team in the county. Mission Viejo, then #1, had two big plays in the game. Tesoro regularly abused the best QB in the state. Fryer- watch the the offensive and defensive lines of Tesoro destroy Mission. Tesoro’s Junior running back (5’10, 170) had 170 yards. Tesoro is 315+ from guard to guard. Perhaps Tesoro coulf even play with the Serra League?
Uh ya I just checked the pictures on the tesoro website and I don’t see any that show any facemasks or holding at all… I guess mission fans just can’t accept the fact that Tesoro outplayed them the whole game. Tesoro was Cleary the better team out there on Friday night.
I guess you did not see the pictures with the tesoro player clealry having his hand inside of the red part of the facemask.
Stopt seeing only what you WANT to see, and see WHAT IS REALLY THERE.
Tesoro dominated Mission Viejo. End of story. I’m not even a fan of either, but watched the game. Mission was never really in the game. Forget about the cheating or the bad call. The game wasn’t close.
ok to you idiots that think that was a facemask it wasn’t. his hand was under his facemask not grabbing it, oh and what about the half a dozen itentional groundings that weren’t called? it goes both ways. Mission Viejo got outplayed flat out. I also don’t think picking off the “great” bridgeford 4 times counts as cheating…
It is absolutely ridiculous to me that a mission viejo fan can call someone else cheaters, how many kids have you recruited to your program that don’t live in your area. Accept your beating and get ready for the next game. Refs missing some calls as you want to say does not lead to a 17 point loss.
