SANTA ANA -- It was not a joyous homecoming for the Saddleback Roadrunners as they lost to Orange, 34-6, Thursday night at Santa Ana Stadium.
The Panthers (2-4, 2-3) entered the Golden West League game ready to play. Their offense scored 27 points in the first half, including an opening-drive, 1-yard touchdown run by quarterback Edgar Bejarano.
The Roadrunners (0-6, 0-1) didn’t have a first down and were held to negative total yards in the first half.
The Panthers’ Alfredo Carrillo intercepted a pass late in the second quarter that led to a 15-yard touchdown run by running back Jorge Mercado.
Carrillo also rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns for the Panthers, who had 10 players combine for 298 rushing yards. Eric Manzo led the way with 106 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown.
The Roadrunners’ lone score was a 67-yard by running back Miguel Escutia in the third quarter.
