Freeway, Garden Grove and Golden West updates

Here are updates for the Freeway, Garden Grove and Golden West leagues:

Freeway League

Fullerton (4-1) and La Habra (3-2) will settle the league title Nov. 7. Both teams should be undefeated when that game arrives. The Highlanders are battle-tested going into league play after having played two hard-fought games with Pac-5 teams San Clemente and Los Alamitos. La Habra also has Ronnie Hillman, who can change a game in a blink of an eye. Fullerton’s Michael Allain can also take over a game.

Garden Grove League

Garden Grove (5-0) was the preseason pick, and they have showed why by going undefeated in nonleague. Santiago (4-1) was tabbed to finish second. Santiago will face Garden Grove on Nov. 7 for what should be for the league title. Things could get interesting as the rest of the league starts positioning for the third playoff spot. Rancho Alamitos (2-3) should be able to jump into the top three and earn a playoff berth. Bolsa Grande (3-2) and La Quinta (2-3) will try to make some noise.

Golden West League

Segerstrom (3-2) and Westminster (2-3) are on a collision course for the league title. The Jaguars have improved each year and could be ready to challenge the Lions. Westminster again had a tough nonleague schedule, but it will have them prepared. The teams will meet Oct. 30 at Ocean View. After that, Ocean View (3-2) and Santa Ana (3-2) will vie for the final playoff spot. The Saints started the season 3-0 but lost two consecutive games to Los Amigos and La Quinta. Orange (1-4) was picked to finish third but has struggled so far.
