Frankly Fryer: Dana Hills-San Clemente

October 15th, 2008, 4:24 pm · 10 Comments · posted by STEVE FRYER, ocvarsity.com

DANA HILLS (3-2, 0-0) VS. NO. 9 SAN CLEMENTE (5-0, 0-0)

Site, date, time: San Clemente High, Fri. Oct. 17, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Dana Hills is the most-improved team in the county, with a victory over Foothill (which beat Santa Margarita) and a one-point loss to Newport Harbor. The Dolphins play another good team in this South Coast League opener.

San Clemente beat a quick, determined La Habra team, 28-21, last week, and the Tritons showed plenty of quickness and determination themselves. This is a huge game for the playoff potential of both. With only the top three teams getting guaranteed playoff berths, and with Mission Viejo and Tesoro also in this league, neither Dana Hills nor San Clemente likely can’t afford to lose this one.

Winner: San Clemente

San Clemente played well against La Habra, both obviously strong teams, but one of La Habra’s top players played injured most of the game and eventually had to sit out. But that’s life. I still believe that the Dana team is an overall better team this year, the question is, do they believe in themselves? If they don’t allow themselves to be intimidated at San Clemente’s homecoming, then Dana should be able to pull this off. It’s all psychological at this point.

    Mom,

are we starting to back track already.. Thanks for keeping us all informed and again for your support..

How are the breakers doing or do you only comment on teams that are not in your community?

  • Secret Agent 08 says:

Based on the reports I collected through my agents, the Dolphins will pull off the W. Both teams are prepared to show different blitzing packages and few trick plays. Game may well be decided by turn overs.
    * Interesting battle to watch: the Tritons front 7 vs under rated - much improved the Dolphins O line.
** Players to Watch: the Triton - Deleon, Espino, Delancelli, Abel, Tenney, Reda (ex-Dolphin), the Dolphins - Schroder, Giesen, Denso, Adams, A Casper, Yamada, Mount.
    *** Final Score: Dolphins 30 - Tritons 21

  • Deefend says:

Secret Agent , if that is the report you collected? it’s all wrong, didn’t mention a lot of other players on the San Clemente team. Wow… and I won’t mention there names…… because the less you know the better.

Tritons will prevail defense if to tough, and the offense will move the ball and score.

  • Deefend says:

    laguna Mom,
that ’s what you said about La Habra! now agin with Dana……this your last chance for predictions. after this one…… please stop it—- will you.

I really didn’t understand why you went for La Habra in the first place??being from Laguna????

  • Brett's Daddy says:

Should be a great game with some of the greatest kids playing football on both teams… many of whom played Jr. All American football together on the Patriot teams coached by Mark Tober.

It will be a great game..!

  • Tritons Win says:

    I agree Daddy

It will be a hard hitting game and I am sure that it will be a heck of a game!

  • Thizz says:

    Dear Everyone,

San Clemente may be 5 and 0 but they have not even come close to playing in a real challenging game except for against la habra. San clemente should be ready to get dominated by Dana’s explosive fast pace offense. Dana deffinatley comes out on top of this one

  • Tritons Win says:

What challenging game has dana played in besides getting handled easily by Edison and losing to an average newport harbor team?

I am sure El Mo was a tough one since they got killed by not only Tesoro but also Jserra.

Let the kids play it out on the field and leave the smack talk off the keyboard and we will all have the answer on Friday

  • Chris is gay says:

Tritons hasnt lost to dana ever

and its going to stay that way.
