No. 12 Dana Hills (3-2) vs. No. 9 San Clemente (5-0)
Friday, 7 p.m., at San Clemente High
Outlook: Is it etched in stone that the winner of this game has the clear track for third place in league and a playoff berth?
It should be.
San Clemente needs a victory in this one because after this game, it has to face Tesoro and Mission Viejo. A loss in this game and the Tritons could be staring at a 0-3 start in league.
On the other side, a victory by Dana Hills and a 3-0 start could be in the works, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Can the Tritons slow QB Sean Schroeder and the Dolphins’ spread offense? Schroeder is off to an amazing start, putting up video game numbers (67 percent on completions, 1,563 yards and 17 touchdowns).
One way to slow Schroeder is to keep him off the field. San Clemente has the ability to do that.
The Tritons converted six of 11 third down attempts against La Habra last week behind the tough running of David Espino and Ryan DeLeon and the decision-making of quarterback Duke DeLancellotti.
Will San Clemente still be undefeated after this one? Or will the Dolphins open league with a victory?

Based on the reports I collected through my agents, the Dolphins will pull off the W. Both teams are prepared to show different blitzing packages and few trick plays. Game may well be decided by turn overs.
* Interesting battle to watch: the Tritons front 7 vs under rated - much improved the Dolphins O line.
** Players to Watch: the Triton - Deleon, Espino, Delancelli, Abel, Tenney, Reda (ex-Dolphin), the Dolphins - Schroder, Giesen, Denso, Adams, A Casper, Yamada, Mount.
*** Final Score: Dolphins 30 - Tritons 21
