The top half remained virtually unchanged, the same can’t be said about the bottom half of the top 10. Irvine, Segerstrom, Santiago, Beckman and Santa Ana were all shuffled after their performances.
1. Laguna Hills (Pacific Coast) 5-0
2. Garden Grove (Garden Grove) 5-0
3. Artesia (Suburban) 5-1
4. Corona del Mar (Pacific Coast) 5-1
5. Irvine (Pacific Coast) 5-1
6. Segerstrom (Golden West) 3-2
7. Santiago (Garden Grove) 4-1
8. Beckman (Pacific Coast) 5-1
9. University (Pacific Coast) 4-2
10. Norwalk (Suburban) 3-2
Others: Santa Ana (Golden West) 3-2; Mayfair (Suburban) 3-3; Westminster (Golden West) 2-3; La Mirada (Suburban) 1-4

are you kidding me who has garden grove or artesia even played this is ridiculous cdm should be #2 they’re the only other team ranked in the top 25 besides LH this is ridiculous.
Pride goeth before the fall, CKings.
I hope that you’re not a member of the CdM varsity football team. I would hope that those guys know to keep their mouths shut.
We’ll see if they can let their play do the talking for them ON THE FIELD in league play, where it counts!
University appears to be heading in the right direction - down and out of the top 10!
OVER-RATED! I was going to start the “over-rated” chant for Santa Ana next week, when they get pummeled by Westminster. Are you kidding me, Saints lose to La Quinta? All of a sudden the Santa Ana-Saddleback game looks competitive. Waiting for the excuses, Saints’ fans.
The top 2 have played teams with a combined record of 11-35. They haven’t faced a decent team. Once they meet a decent team they will go down.
Laguna Hills should fall to Corona DelMar this week. Garden Grove has a cheese cake schedule and will probably breeze through their league. Santiago may give them a challenge. Even so, they will hit CIF as a #1 seed probably and will be taken out by some lowly team. Then it will be called an upset.
There are a lot of 2-3 teams in Orange county that would mangle these 2 teams.
Hey Pappi,
We thinks……. maybe your obsessing alittle too much regarding santa ana being overrated, “Could it be because the Lions are rated below the saints?”
I believe OCvarsity is your problem!!!
There are other webs sights available! Ya know!!
Or maybe your upset because your welfare check hasn’t come in yet.
I’ll be looking for you in your wheelchair as they roll you into the S.A. BOWL
i agree …
Garden Grove realy didnt play anyone worth a challenge and neather did laguna hills but heck its football anything could happen starting league im actually looking forward to this week lets see what happens
I love OC Varsity. As far as the Lions being rated below the Saints, we’ll see what happens when Westminster plays Santa Ana this week. Looking forward to Santa Ana losing their third game in a row. Yeah, damn snail mail. I’ll be the one with the American flag on my chair. Oh and I love government cheese, too. GO SAINTS!!
uni got alot of injurys dont count them out
I have a feeling Segerstrom could easily beat teams 2-10 on this list.
Mar595? ur saying Newport Harbor is not a good team. And laguna has played Segerstrom and Canyon
AHS IS MOVING UP THE LADDER, READY TO WATCH CDM AND LH KNOCK EACH OTHER OUT ON FRI AND IS READY TO WIN THEIR LEAGUE BTW CAUGHT THE GARDEN GROVE SADDLEBACK GAME I HOPE GROVE HAD THEIR JV’S IN THE WHOLE GAME DIDNT SEE ANYONE THAT CAN COVER THOSE GUYS AT ARTESIA oh and by the way CKINGS TROY, MAGNOLIA AND COSTA MESA ARE QUALITY TEAMS : ) RIGHT HOW PLAYING AGAINST KIDS THAT ARE GOING TO THE NEXT LEVEL.
first of all i beliave Garden Grove is way over rated looking at their schedule its a joke cant bealive their even up their but probably their coach chose a schedule like that so he wont get any injuries going into league dont think they might get league champs this year either (first Rancho Alamitos year after that Santiago) if Rancho doesn’t give them their first lost Santiago will no way their going undefeated Grove-Rancho is a rilvary game looking foward to Rancho handing Grove their first lost Santiago-segerstrom game should of been a close one if it wasn’t for two of our top players on defense that were out due to injeries that came back to help the team beat Anaheim so watch out Grove cuz Santiago is going to reapet league chaps……. Santa Ana lost to Los Amigos giving them their first win and LA QUINTA giving them their first win in god knows how manny games cant bealive their ranked higher then Wesminster
AHS is up and coming! Who said we haven’t played nebogy. We beat the defending CIF champion in Cypress and CIF semifinalist Gahr. We will see who is there at the end. GOPIONEERS
It should be a close game between Westminster and Segerstrom. The only two top football programs in GWL!!!! I think that Segerstom might pull an upset even if Westminster is not ranked.
And for the “Saints” I knew they never had a chance…hahahaha
Grove is overrated, Santa Ana is overrated, university is overrated, beckman is overrated! When you’re losing to teams like La Quinta, or scheduling door mats like Saddle Back, Costa Mesa, you have no right to be ranked.
As for Uni having injuries, lets save the excuses… same goes for the Cav with the 2nd grade spelling and grammar! LOL
Great commentary involving Southern Division teams. It’s okay to trash talk, but be prepared to back it up. Trash talk without facts makes the messenger look like a fool. Hey Legit40, I agree 100%.
um i don’t know what ur talking about artesia beat cypress BIG DEAL!
Cypress isn’t good they lost to irvine and CdM has played Newport Harbor and villa park both of these teams would kill cypress. I also respect Laguna Hills too they actually have a semi legit schedule. By the way until two weeks ago i have never heard about Artesia. By the way CdM is in the top 25 and i trust fryer who knows what he’s talking about. Also we shut down Magnolia’s high flying offense. Cruz couldn’t do anything.
enough said
Also name another team in the top 5 who’s played a top ten county team besides CdM.
Fryer does know what he’s talking about, that’s why he picked
Laguna Hills to win.
CKings, Cypress didn’t not lose to Irvine I watched film of that. And LH and CDM will go 1-2 and walk over all these teams. (LH will destroy CDM though this weekend). I don’t play for any of these schools mentioned, so you can be sure that I’m not biased.
Ya LHHS school is the team to beat in the southern division and since CdM couldnt do it, the task falls to the rest of us in the PCL. LOL you must play for Beckman or Uni. See you real soon. As far as Irvine vs Cyp, we held them to two field goals. I dont care if you you think Irvine sucks or Cyp sucks this year, holding this Cyp team to field goals with Reza, who is like baby Tim Tebow and #13 who is fast and slippery ,to no touchdowns is a feat.If you disagree, you arent close enough to the action to make the call.Cyp is a good team, top three in Empire and you know its between Empire and PCL for CIF( no disrespect to the other leagues) in the southern division.WE will see CdM next week and it will be settled. See you next week CKings.
i play for laguna hills, segerstrom is no doubt #2 in my mind… Then just by watching teams ide say irvine #3, but its so up in the air.
ok it should be good
Hey vine the empire league is no longer is the southern division.
Ya my bad I think I meant in CIF Div VI Playoffs ? We got blown up by Valencia last year in Rnd 2 and it was an all Empire League final I think(Valencia vs Cyp and Cyp won)
Man, I remember back in the glory days of the SeaView league. You couldnt find a tougher league even today. Irvine, El Toro, Santa Marg, Newport Harbor, CDM, and Woodbridge (Tustin, Uni, and Saddleback were there early on too) . 4 CIF Southern Section titles in the 4 years I played then (Irvine 92-93, NH 94, and ET 95) Not to mention all the NFL tallent that we played against; Reuben Droughns (Anaheim), Carson Palmer and Brian Finneran (Santa Marg), and Tony Gonzalez (HB) (Never played againgst him but he was around), just to name a few. Lots of talent from the OC, at least back in the day. I also remember Mission Viejo being an easy week then playing Mater Dei and Canyon Springs the next weeks. Best of luck to you young guys.
