HUNTINGTON BEACH - Kyle Walker racked up 228 rushing yards and returned the second-half kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown Friday to spark Ocean View in its 27-8 nonleague victory over Estancia at Ocean View High.
Walker gained 136 yards on 17 carries in the first half, and his 12-yard touchdown run gave Ocean View (3-2) a 13-0 lead with 6:09 left in the first quarter.
A Blake Hitchcock field goal gave the Seahawks a 16-0 lead at the half, then Walker extended the homecoming excitement by finding a seam down the middle when Estancia (2-4) kicked the ball to him to begin the third quarter.
“Everybody wedged, and my brother (Blake) took out the kicker,” Walker said. “It was important because we usually start the second half slowly.”
Carlos Mendez gained 151 yards on 21 carries for Estancia, but the Eagles’ offense was largely bottled up while playing from behind all evening.
