HUNTINGTON BEACH -- Running backs Aaron Garbutt and Louie Villa combined for 304 yards and four touchdowns to lead Westminster to a 30-23 nonleague victory over Santa Ana Valley on Thursday at Ocean View High.
Garbutt carried 11 times for 149 yards and scored on a 57-yard run on the Lions’ first play from scrimmage. The senior added scoring runs of 34 and 12 yards in the second and fourth quarters, respectively.
Villa gained 155 yards on 10 carries and scored on a 71-yard run to help the Lions finish 2-3 in the nonleague portion of their schedule.
Falcons quarterback Carlos Acevedo completed 10 of 17 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns, both to Joe Garcia, who finished with four catches for 109 yards.
Acevedo connected with Garcia on a 40-yard touchdown to pull the Falcons (2-3) to seven points behind with 1:15 remaining.
