Frankly Fryer: Marina - Western

MARINA (2-2) VS. WESTERN (2-2)

Site, date, time: Western High, Fri. Oct. 10, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Marina is on the right path to improvement, and would be a playoff contender in the Pacific Coast or Sea View Leagues. But the Vikings play in the Sunset League, which has four teams in the county top 10.This is their most-challenging nonleague game.

Western has a potent offense and one of the better two-way players in the county, junior running back/linebacker Ruben Ortega. This is going to be a bruising battle. Western’s speed should be the difference.

Winner: Western

Thursday it was Marina JV 23-7 over Western JV. Could this be a prelude to tonights big game. That’s some pretty tough defense for the Vikings.
