Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks (4-0) vs. No. 2 Servite (3-1)
Friday, 7:30 p.m., at Cerritos College
Overview: Is it Mater Dei-Servite week yet? The Monarchs have a much-needed bye, while the Friars have to play the undefeated Knights. Where’s the justice in that?
In all fairness, Servite had its bye last week.
I would think the goal for the Friars is two-fold against the Knights: Win and escape without any injuries.
Greg Portis is the player to watch in this one. He can change a game, as he did against Edison. Portis had two rushing touchdowns (28 and 44 yards) and a 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
The Knights can score, having put up 52 points (twice) and 45 in their previous three games.
The Servite defense will provide the pressure and defensive back Bijon Samoodi should be all over the field making plays.
The Friars should be up for the challenge and most likely won't be looking ahead to next week. (That’s for me to do.)
