No. 11 La Habra (3-1) vs. No. 9 San Clemente (4-0)
Friday, 7 p.m., at San Clemente High
Overview: Do we know what type of team San Clemente is? The record of the teams that the Tritons have defeated so far is 4-14. La Habra’s opponents, on the other hand, are a combined 10-6.
Feel free to draw your own conclusion.
The Highlanders came close to upsetting No. 4 Los Alamitos last week, but as you know, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
This week, No. 9 San Clemente is on the schedule. I’ve voted La Habra in the top 10 for the last four weeks, so this is an extremely important for them -- and my top-10 ballot.
La Habra is more than just Ronnie Hillman. Quarterback Randall Nygren can run and throw and running back Josh Quezada is a beast to tackle.
Then there is the Hillman-factor. The San Diego State-commit has 521 total yards and six touchdowns so far. He’s known as the Reggie Bush of O.C. football, line him up and watch him go.
I’ve only voted for San Clemente once this season. The Tritons are averaging 26.8 points a game and have shown a good balance (168.5 rushing and 153.5 passing).
The competition steps up against the Highlanders.
Who will be ready? Are the Tritons for real?
According to Mapquest it is a 46-mile trip (54 minutes) one way trip from La Habra to San Clemente. Will the trip home be a joyous one or frustrating one for the Tritons?
I would have more patience with if you were just a reader lik me, but since La Habra is the one making the road trip, your last sentence doesn't make sense.
Go Highlanders! We are focused, hungry and ready for the game. We got rid of our case of nerves when we held tough against Los Al. Bring on the Tritons. Go, Clan!!!
38-14 la habra
isnt the game at sc?
Will hillman play? I understand that he is not playing????
Calhoun,
In this match up all you write up is how good La Habra is!!!
I guess we will have to put the Tritons to the test. The Tritons will be ready for this game...... trust me.We have 22 players playing like a machine, and when the machine starts...... get -out of the way!!!!
If La Habra cant win they dont deserve to be in the Top 10 all year. Hillman might not play? I can already hear the Clam, oh I mean "Clan" making their excuses.
r u serious????
killed by turnovers and refs against #4 los al and san clemente thinks they got a chance???
i dont think so
LH 31-10
big joe casey wont give up 2 tds
Keep it coming LH fans we love it!!!!!!!!
Be sure have those mouth peices in and chin straps tight, theres gonna be some SERIOUS CRACKIN goin on.
See ya Friday
We look forward to friday night.
Should be a great game :o)
This will be the most physical game that.... La Habra will play all year.
I spoke with Highlander coach Frank Mazzotta this morning. Hillman is going to play. He's ready to go.
great news!
should be a great game between two tough teams
Cannot wait to see what happens.
Just gotta watch out for flying objects and jeers from those Clan fans!!
Nice that you adore Mr. Hillman - but another Freeway running back , Michael Allain has a total of 920 yards with 6 TDs. Freeway League deserves much respect.
Good Luck and may the best team win.
I am very interested to see how La Habra does this weekend. My son plays at Foothill and the Knights are very good this year. We may wind up seeing La Habra in the SW Division playoffs. This game could tell us a lot about La Habra.
Number one: for years we've been WAITING to play some hard solid teams. So far our big GAME has been with FULLERTON??? We, said okay we'll pretend like this is the BIG GAME.....
Number two: Of course Michael Allain has 920 yards and 6 TD's; he's the only guy scoring. I read the paper every saturday morning and HE IS the FULLERTON TEAM.. they ain't got nobody else since Derek Coleman left...oops that was Troy... hah hah hah
Number three: I hate to say it but if you play dirty you get down and dirty. Los AL played dirty. If you taunt us we're going to come back a fighting.
With that I'll say... see you Friday night San Clemente!
OK yes Michael Allain has the yards and some TD and Fullerton is playing stronger than ever. Micahael never takes the credit all for himself and will be the first to tell you that without his linemen he couldn't do it. It takes a team to play and win like that. There are other key players besides Michael. Like Lindeys, Hicks, and Lopez and few more.
Remeber one thing, Michael plays with his heart in the game. He isn't comitted to a college....YET so what. So all you La Habra Fans get off your High Horse.
All good things do come to an end. Let the boys enjoy the game and have fun. Thinking too highly of yourselves will be your down fall.
Only Time Will Tell Huh?
San Clemente has been waiting for this game since the schedule came out. They are focused and ready to battle. Bring IT!!!
and what's with the playing dirty comment Jer?
i think its nice la habra wants to start this whole civil war north vs. south thing but lets be real...la habra is cif champs of what...division 45...and yeah they put a good stand against los al but what other team in the last 2 years have they played that can even hang with san clemente's record each year san clemente takes on pac 5 powerhouses anyone remember what curtis and that offense did to servites d last year..or how about the game where WE BEAT MISSION VIEJO......i'm just going to sit back and watch delancelotti run and pass all night with espino and deleon leading the way on the ground because as far as i'm concerned...who's la habra
One thing I can't stand is alumni who dare to log in about the past = the heydey. You all are about...Remember....Remember...Remember. No we don't remember. We never even noticed you until you were put on the schedule. We're excited to see your QB - Mr. "I dance a lot"...do his thing. Do me a favor okay? Read Coach Barnes comments on the game in the O.C. Register last Saturday. I believe his words we're "La Habra was bigger than they used to be and they are very physical. They are a very well coached team. They can play in the Pac 5." He said it...I didn't. And do yourself a favor alumni QB...get out of the past and stay in the present cause theres some exciting stuff going on....
Jerri
Do us all a favor and keep it clean.
Let the pads do the talking and not the internet
well for your information jerri...this isn't any alumni qb from san clemente...i was an offensive defensive back...so don't be too quick to judge...you wouldn't even want anything to do with the past san clemente because if you did your homework and even knew what you were saying you would know to show some respect...and as far as coach barnes thats pretty generous that he thinks you guys could even last a second in the pac 5 because you guys are bigger and more physical than the past...who even remembers la habras past other than again winning a division 9 cif last year playing what kind of teams again?... and your nuts if you've never noticed san clemente because they have been in the top ten county rankings for over ten straight years...where has la habra been...but we'll see tonight when the pads are on like my man clanfan is saying haha and watch this "exciting stuff" you're talking about haha
haha my bad i ment defensive back...wouldn't have mattered anyways still could have played offensive back....but yeah see you tomorrow night...with mr. dance a lot run up and down your guys' faces
As a devout La Habra "hater" I would like to advise the Triton faithful be careful what you wish for. This is a very good football team regardless of their division and any underestimation of that will prove a huge mistake. Simply because the student body draws from considerably smaller area and "recruiting" isn't the norm don't mean there isn't any good ball being played in outside of the Pac 5. This will be a slobberknocker of a game both sides giving and both sides taking. It hurts me like you can't imagine to say this but "Go Clan!" All that trash talk coming from a team that's always the bridesmaid and never a champ doesn't sit well with the folks up North.
P.S. triton alumni 08 being an offensive defensive back is not something to bark about.
Final San Clemente 28 La Who Bra 21 enought said.
On to League
All I have to say is what about that SAN CLEMENTE DEFENSE. They played like a team, all of them. Congrats, San Clemente .......GO TRITONS.
Final score- San Clemente 28 La Who bra 21. Tritons scored on every possession in the first half. Second half adjustments by both teams showed defense important to win games too
did i call it or did i call it...hahaha glad to see "the clan" could even make it as close as it was
for triton alumni 08 you say your school is damm good and call la habra "la habra is cif champs of what…division 45…"then why didnt you gys blow us out? huh Since you guys are D1 school and were a "division 45" school then you should have had no problem beaten us. right wich wasn't the case.....Yea we lost....I give to San Clemente you guys played a hell of a game.....but sit at your computer and talk smack on La habra..we held our ground.
San Clemente was the better team
end of story
Great game -SC showed a lot of class. LH we had our chances but could not quite get it done. Good luck to both teams and lets see where both teams end up in week 14.
i guess we showed everybody what kind of team we are, especially steve fryer
