Preliminary hearing set for CdM’s Serbian water polo goalie

October 7th, 2008, 12:08 pm · · posted by

An Orange County Superior Court judge today set a preliminary injunction hearing for Tuesday to hear the eligibility case of Corona del Mar water polo goalie Martin Babovic, a foreign exchange student from Serbia.

At the hearing, Orange County Superior Court Judge Steven Perk is expected to rule on Babovic’s eligibility for varsity competition, said the player’s attorney, Richard Bridgford, moments ago.

“I feel good about it,” Bridgford said of the decision to hold a hearing. “I think the kid is eligible.”

The touted Babovic has been ruled ineligible for varsity competition by Southern Section because of concerns that he was not randomly placed at Corona del Mar.

For those wondering, Bridgford is indeed the father of Mission Viejo quarterback Allan Bridgford.

More details to come.
