Here are Steve Fryer’s teams 21-25:
21. Valencia (3-1) The Tigers moved up to a Pac-5 Division opponent last week and won, with a 28-17 victory over Capistrano Valley. The defense recorded four sacks and a couple of turnovers, and Isaac Dominguez led the offense with 224 yards rushing – 178 in the second half – and an 80-yard touchdown reception.
22. El Dorado (1-3) That 27-6 loss to Tesoro was the third straight loss for the Golden Hawks, who went 13-1 last year and the year before. They had won 33 of their previous 37 games until this little losing streak.
23. Cypress (2-2) Major signs of improvement came in the Centurions’ 35-7 victory over previously undefeated University. They should be a factor in a balanced Empire League.
24. JSerra (4-0) Making their top 25 debut, the Lions beat Pacifica, 37-35. Winning a close game against a good team reveals a lot about how much progress JSerra is making.
25. St. Margaret’s (4-0) The Tartans went on a long road-trip to play a day game and beat Campbell Hall of North Hollywood, 37-0. They have three shutouts. A good test for St. Margaret’s comes this week as the Tartans play at Los Angeles Baptist, 4-1.
