Fryer: My football top 10 vote this week …

October 6th, 2008, 2:12 pm · 9 Comments · posted by STEVE FRYER, ocvarsity.com

1. Servite

2. Missio Viejo

3. Edison

4. Orange Lutheran

5. Mater Dei

6. Los Alamitos

7. Tesoro

8. Esperanza

9. Newport Harbor

10. La Habra

My comments on why I voted that way …

Servite’s only loss was by one point to Crespi of Encino, and the Friars beat two teams that have been in the state top 20, Edison and Clovis West of Fresno.

I can understand why somebody would vote Mission Viejo at No. 1. Maybe the Diablos are the best team in the county. Really a tough call.

Los Alamitos is better than Tesoro, but not by a whole lot, and Mater Dei is better than both by another small margin.

La Habra looked good against Los Alamitos. That La Habra-San Clemente game this week will have impact on the rankings.

Newport Harbor beat a good Dana Hills team, although by just one point. But good teams win close games.

    Steve,

Did the LH fans throw water bottles at you? is that why you listed them on your top ten. One game they play and you have them in your Top ten.
I guess you are a pretty easy guy to impress. I know you find SC suspect, but they have a good defense. I guess will see if LH can play with the BIG BOYS…. on back to back weeks. You see, the Trinity League and the Sunset League, Southcoast league…… beat up on each other come league time. That is why the Pac-5 belong -always in the top ten week in and week out.

One fan threw a water bottle @ the refs as the game was winding down.
That person has no business in our stadium. I appologize cause that isnt what our program is about.

  • Deefend says:

lhclandad…. you have class. any loss is always a tough -one to take.

Nobody threw a water bottle at me — but Ronnie Hillman’s dad did buy me a large cola! That is not why I voted La Habra in on my top 10 ballot. They looked darned good against Los Alamitos. I second-guess myself and change my mind a lot as I see more teams and as more results come in.

  • Deefend says:

if that’s the case…. I will make sure I buy you two sodas.

  • Deefend says:

    steve,

will u be at the SC vs LH game?

  • Damian Calhoun, OCVarsity.com since 2004 says:

I’ll be there, will you buy me a soda?

  • Deefend says:

    Calhoun,
for sure….. even though you voted for LH. Its going to be a heck of a game!

  • Yo Mama says:

    I got your large cola.
