CERRITOS — Shane Decillo rushed for a career-high 188 yards, and Jason Mayer threw two touchdown passes as Trabuco Hills earned its first victory, 28-21, over Gahr in a nonleague game Thursday at Gahr High.

Decillo carried 28 times, continually pounding the ball up the middle.

Mayer, who was playing for the first time since breaking his wrist in the Mustangs’ first game, engineered two  second-half scoring drives.

“It’s good to get one under our belts,” said Mayer, who played with a cast on his left wrist and completed 11 passes as Trabuco Hills (1-3) defeated the Gladiators (2-3) for the third year in a row “It’s been a long couple of weeks for me.”

With the score tied, 14-14, late in the third quarter, Mayer tossed a 33-yard TD pass to Justen Lasch giving the Mustangs a 21-14 lead.

Donnie Simonsen scored on 6-yard run in the fourth.
