Frankly Fryer: Pacifica-JSerra

PACIFICA (1-2) VS. JSERRA (3-0)

Site, date, time: Saddleback College, Thursday. Oct. 2, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Accuse your Frankly Fryer pal of falling prey to JSerra-mania. Guilty as charged. This program is going in the right direction, and is taking cautious steps in doing so. The Lions have beaten Huntington Beach, Saddleback and El Modena. Hardly a survival test, but definitely a sign of progress.
Pacifica probably is better than its record indicates. The Mariners beat Long Beach Wilson by 16 points; Los Alamitos beat Wilson by 14. And the Mariners lost to two good teams, Fountain Valley and California of Whittier. Having seen JSerra coach Jim Hartigan coach Santa Margarita to victories over more-talented Mater Dei teams many years ago, there is confidence here he can do that again. This is a risky pick, sure, but what the heck …

Winner: JSerra
