The big winners of the week had to be Santa Ana. The Saints jumped four spots after their 41-9 victory over Costa Mesa. Santiago dropped six places after losing to Segerstrom. The top three remained unchanged.

3. University (Pacific Coast) 4-0
4. Santa Ana (Golden West) 3-0
5. Artesia (Suburban) 3-1
6. Corona del Mar (Pacific Coast) 3-1
7. Irvine (Pacific Coast) 3-1
8. Westminster (Golden West) 1-2
9. Segerstrom (Golden West) 2-2
10. Santiago (Garden Grove) 2-1
Others: Beckman (Pacific Coast) 3-1; Norwalk (Suburban) 2-2; Glenn (Suburban) 2-2; Calvary Chapel (Orange Coast) 2-2; Mayfair (Suburban) 0-4
Yay for segerstrom! new program that is starting to look strong. watch out for those guys in the playoffs. They could beat alot of the teams above them…
Ya Sergerstrom is tough we played them last year preseason and they are tough hard hitting we(Irvine) were glad to come out with a win!Much parity in this Southern section anyone could take it. we shall see what happens as the season progresses
Cocur with 1234 and thevine. Segerstrom is a program on the rise. Can they take league? Westminster is still the class of the league, but Segerstrom will push them hard this year. Staying in the Goldenwest League, Santa Ana at no. 4, please. They haven’t played anyone worthy. They play an 0-3 Los Amigos team this week and finish the preseason against a winless La Quinta. Santa Ana’s first league game is Westminster. Santa Ana is going to get smoked and I love it.
UNI IS GOING 2 DO IT AGAIN BUT THIS TIME CIF CHAMPS AND THAN STATE
i dont think you guys understand that laguna will beat all of you. sorry but its true
Ya your probably right adsf we’ll play the game just in case
Uni is a nice team and they have some good wins, but CIF and state champs? They’ll be hard pressed to make the playoffs.
you guys are lucky the orange and empire league ain’t in this division anymore
irvine will play cypress of the empire league wk 5 should be a barn burner though i think we are playing up a level on that one. looking forward to it
Santa Ana No.4, that is a joke right? I mean, they havent played anyone worthy and they didnt wanna play Santa Ana Valley(i attend and im a football player) and if they did, they would’ve gotten smoked by us, and Slkd makes a point, u guys are REALLY lucky that the Orange & Empire leagues aren’t in this division no more cuz probably almost all if not all of this pool would have Empire and Orange League teams
pappy you make me laugh! santa ana is going to prove what they have been working for on Oct. 17….
look at that calvary chapel getting in the mix
What’s this about the Orange and Empire Leagues? Those 2 leagues, with the exception of Pacifica and Western, won’t exist come Turkey day. Sour grapes perhaps? Now you have to prove yourself in the division you should have been in the last 2 years. Regarding the Saints, they haven’t played anyone… Westminster the class of their league? Did any of you see how Garden Grove, yeah, a GGL team, marched down the field, straight into the end zone with ease? If their the ‘class of their league’ than the GWL is over rated this year… I said it.
Until another team beats Westminster for the league title, my “class of the league” statement stands. Grove is another team with a cupcake preseason schedule. I’m not making excuses for Westminster, but their game against Grove was the first of the season when most teams are trying to find what kind of team they are. By the way, did you see Segerstrom, A GWL team, destroy Santiago, a GGL team?
So you agree than, Westminster falls in the ‘cupcake’ category this season? You must have missed the GGL preview, Grove is ranked higher than Santiago (not just in the division rankings). I’m not surprised they lost. But I did check the box score, looked like it was a close game, not really a runaway. The GWL is overrated. Plain and simple.
Laguna Hills will beat ever team on that list hands down CIF champs this year
The only team that can beat Lhills is cdm so ya we’ll see mr. cif champ boy and speaking of teams that should be in a higher division Lhills is one of those teams.
Laguna hills has only about 1800 kids in the school and is a small team with a lot of heart every year. Their just fine in the division their in.
I play for segerstrom…laguna hills is good..they beat us once but honestly if we play them again we will take it…. cant wait to see them in the playoffs! GO JAGUARS
haha what happened last year laguna hills? we(cypress) beat you guys in the first round of CIF last year and ended being CIF champs.
back to back? i think so =]
Wait so if Laguna Hills is such a small school then why did they use to be in a league with Newport Harbor and schools like that i don’t think that’s a correct fact .
Laguna Hills stomped on Segerstrom. The game should not have been as close as it was, you threw up two prayers in the fourth quarter and just got lucky. We played one of our worst games that day on offense and yet we still beat you. I am looking out for segerstrom next year… they will be the team to beat. Its going to be a contest between Segerstrom on L-hills in the southern section, possibly CDM and Irvine.
^^^^ CKings is just mad because laguna works harder than every other team and they can’t compete with us right now. It goes from a year to year basis though, I believe three years ago we were 0-10 and shortly after that in the semifinals of CIF.
no it’s just not fair that Laguna Hills went down a division that’s what i was a saying. The year before you guys went to our league you guys were league champs. correct me if im wrong, but i believe this was true. Also im not all that impressed yet because you guys were struggling with Woodbridge in the first quarter.
CDM is not good at all. They should not even be near being in the top 5. Uni is the best team in the league and division. They will kill cdm and beat lhills.
peace
