ANAHEIM -- Savanna couldn’t wait until the final whistle went off in a 17-14 victory over Los Amigos on Thursday at Glover Stadium.

The Rebels were up, 17-0, when the Lobos offense got going.

In a span of two minutes Los Amigos (0-3) scored two touchdowns, then recovered an onside kick and  had one last shot at the end zone to win it all with three ticks left on the clock.

But Savannna (1-3) escaped with its first victory.  Donevin Washington did most of the damage for the Rebels with 150 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

“I’m just happy that we were able to hang on and get that first win out of the way, we are working hard and getting better everyday,” Savanna coach Roger Whalen said. “I think we caught them a little off guard when we came out in the I-formation because we haven’t run anything other than the spread offense for the past seven years.”

The Lobos were paced by Ricky Vu (158 rushing yards and a touchdown), and Francisco Pulido (130 receiving yards and a TD).
