GARDEN GROVE -- In a game marred by a slew of turnovers, Bolsa Grande used a pair of Mikhail Lowery second half touchdowns to break open a close game and post a 35-19 victory over visiting Buena Park at Bolsa Grande.
Lowery, who rushed for 111 yards, scored from two yards out following a Matador (2-1) interception to extend the lead to 28-19 with barely a minute gone in the second half.
An interception by Fernando Rodriguez set up Bolsa Grande’s final score. Lowery capped an 85-yard, 14-play drive with a 10-yard run around the left side with 10:49 to go.
Buena Park (1-3) opened the scoring with Cain Flores’ 4-yard run but a pair of Matador touchdowns, both a result of Coytoes turnovers, put Bolsa Grande up 14-7.
Jimmie Davis returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for a score to cut the deficit to one, but the Coyotes would get no closer.
The Coyotes are awful this year and I blame Kevin Fawley. If he wasn't off watching Angels games, and came to Coyote football games instead, the team might have a chance.
