Put up or shut-up time for the Trinity League?

September 19th, 2008, 2:15 pm · · posted by

The much-heralded Trinity League has two chances tonight to flex its football muscle when Mater Dei plays host to Centennial of Corona at Santa Ana Stadium and Servite travels to Crespi.

For me, the Trinity needs to at least get a split tonight or keep each score very close to keep the Sunset League off its back in the race for county supremacy.

Remember, Santa Margarita already got run over by St. Bonaventure and last week, Bishop Amat knocked off Orange Lutheran.

Non-county member St. John Bosco is 2-0 but won’t be tested until it gets to Loyola next week.

I’m with you Dan. Tonight’s results will be very interesting and will tell us a lot about the Trinity League. Servite on the road against Crespi is a tall order.

albano, give me a break. Sunset better than Trinity? Edison goes to Hawaii, Servite travels to Fresno, Maragarita goes back to back Ventura then SD, Servite goes to Encino. Trinity is looking for teams to play – wherever they are. Sunset will play only cream puffs, except Edison on a good weekend.

Trinity supremecy at stake? Right. When was the last time Espy scheduled Trinity teams? Los Al liked being punked by Olu two straight years so much they made sure cupcakes filled ’08 pre-season. Sure Edison is brave, and has had success, but if Trinity top 3 were in Sunset all Griff, Aztec, Charger, and Sailors would be watching games from the stands yearly.

    Angelus League?

Tough night for the Trinity League. Orange Lutheran struggling with Tustin, Mater Dei again looking defenseless and what’s the deal with Santa Margarita? Servite had the best showing even in defeat. This league is wide open.

However, I’m not ready to crown the Sunset League the best just yet. Esperanza has major offensive problems and then goes out and loses to Mira Costa, Newport Harbor scores a safety against Long Beach Poly, Marina loses to Westminster! Los Alamitos has yet to play anybody good. We’ll see how Edison survives its Servite-Mater Dei stretch.

St. John Bosco, is the best in the Trinity league. I guess they will just have to beat Loyola to show there worth. Keith Price, 2008-2009 Trinity League MVP.

  • Steve Burt says:

Edison is the only Sunset League team that will play a Trinity League team before the playoffs. The Chargers would have to beat both Servite and Mater Dei to claim the top spot in the county polls before the playoffs. However, it would be Edison, not the Sunset League, that would have any claim to supremacy over the Trinity League. Polls and rankings are pure speculation when teams don’t meet on the field of play.

Both Edison & Servite are winners…..before playing this week. One of Edison’s players is battling a rare blood disorder…Servite coaches & players participated in a fundraiser for that player. In addition, Servite has offered to donate half the proceeds of their program sales this week. A class act by a very classy program, regardless of league.
