MISSION VIEJO -- In a perfect world, Hayden Greene or Sam Inman would have distinguished himself as JSerra’s starting quarterback.

Instead, the two seniors split time on Thursday and were virtually perfect as the Lions won a nonleague game over visiting Saddleback, 42-16, at Saddleback College.

JSerra (2-0) led, 21-0, after one quarter and 42-0 at halftime. After outgaining Saddleback (0-2), 212-22, JSerra coach Jim Hartigan used his reserves in the second half.

Greene, a summer transfer from Mater Dei, was 3 for 3 for 30 yards and touchdown passes of 6 yards (to Colby Goldschmied) and 7 yards (to Logan Welbaum). Greene also scored on a 5-yard run.

Inman, the starter last season, was 7 of 10 for 92 yards and touchdown passes of 8 and 20 yards, both to Matt Kewell.

I am curious as to how the transfer rules work now? I know Hayden Greene was at Newport Harbor last year, then transferred to MD then J Serra. I was wondering if the argument that private schools follow the rules as public schools is true how is this is possible?

  • saddleback alum says:

Hey - did O'Connell shake Hartigan's hand after the game or just mad dog him?
He hasn't won a game since 2006 and that was only one that season (1-21 record - 2006, 2007, 2008...but who's counting?) Maybe Saddleback should get rid of him before he get tenure...

  • Hmmmm says:

hasnt the saddleback coach only been there for two years and has not won a game? The tenure comment may be right as the whole program still stinks

  • thewolf says:

Bring back Coach Witte - it has been 23 years since Saddleback has won a CIF championship - 1985 - he was the best coach for that school - along with Coach Mangram (Bird Man), Coach Messenheimer (Mess), Coach Carnegie (Superman), and Coach Young (Yes Jerry).

Go Roadrunners!!!!! bring back the old square shs on the helmets.
