Steve Fryer ranks the 11-25 football teams in Orange County.

Here are teams 16-20:

16. Western (Orange) 1-0

Fryer’s comment: Pioneers anger Frankly Fryer by beating Canyon to give FF a 7-1 record for the week. Ruben Ortega, Mookie Cooksie and a big, fast defense make the Pios the Orange League favorite, by a lot.

17. Canyon (Century) 1-1

Fryer’s comment: Canyon had several chances to beat Western, but could not keep up with Western’s team speed. But not many can. Canyon is going to be right there in the hunt for the Century League championship.

18. Trabuco Hills (Sea View) 0-1

Fryer’s comment: The Mustangs simply lost to a better team in a 26-6 victory for Laguna Hills. They have another tough opponent this week: San Clemente.

19. Pacifica (Empire) 1-0

Fryer’s comment: The Mariners beat a Pac-5 team, Long Beach Wilson, 23-7. Wilson is not in the Pac-5 top 10, sure, but any time a mid-division team like Pacifica beats a Pac-5 team by 16 points, that’s pretty good.

20. Fountain Valley (Sunset) 1-1

Fryer’s comment: Losing to Tesoro, 29-13, is no shame because Tesoro might be better than it was when it went 5-0 in the South Coast League last year.
