The Argonauts started quickly, as Lucky Moemoe intercepted a first-quarter pass and returned it 28 yards for a touchdown.
They also finished strong, outscoring the Lions in the second half, 28-7, and taking advantage of numerous Lions miscues (14 penalties and two lost fumbles).
Garden Grove’s offense was led by Sean Young, who had 25 carries for 201 yards and three touchdowns.
The Lions also have a potent rushing attack, as Louie Villa gained 198 yards on 20 carries and scored three times.
The Argonauts scored twice in the final four minutes of the third period as Jonathan Lopez recovered a fumble by Henry Chapple, and returned it 10 yards for a touchdown, and Young tallied the go-ahead score on a 43-yard run.
Young also scored from 4 yards out after a 5-yard Lions punt near midfield turned into a nine-play, 46-yard drive that chewed up nearly 5 minutes.
