Frankly Fryer: Foothill-Tustin

September 10th, 2008, 2:54 pm · · posted by

FOOTHILL (0-1) VS. TUSTIN (0-1)

Site, time: Tustin High, Friday 7 p.m.

Outlook: Your Frankly Fryer pal picked both of these teams to win last week, but Foothill was overwhelmed by Dana Hills, 36-14, and Tustin had its big lead disappear against Kennedy, 31-28. Kennedy was able to throw the ball to make its comeback, and Foothill has passing-game potential, too. A big reason a passing team has a significant advantage over a non-passing team in high school football is that the non-passing team has a difficult time mimicking the passing-team opponent in practice, making preparation quite a challenge. Tustin is better than last year, and will improve as the Tillers achieve the rhythm needed to effectively run their double-wing offense. But Foothill might be the better team this week.

Winner: Foothill

  • Country says:

Things went down hill when Wilkerson went down in the 3rd. Fatigue also played a role in last week’s 2nd half meltdown. Foothill’s no huddle offense isn’t going to make it easy for them this week, especially for those that play both ways for Tustin.

If Tustin wants to win this. They need to score early & often as possible.

Foothill just needs to catch a rhythm to get things moving.
