El Toro, Los Alamitos, Mater Dei and Villa Park — all certain to be part of the upcoming Register boys water polo preseason poll — have been selected for this fall’s North-South Challenge in Northern California.

The tournament, in its third season, has quickly become one of the top events of the season. Villa Park (2007) and El Toro (2006) are the past champions.

This season’s dates: Oct. 24-25 at Sacred Heart Prep/Menlo-Atherton.

The Register’s water polo preview will appear in Tuesday’s newspaper and of course on the web, probably earlier.
