OC Varsity ~ High school sports talk by the staff of the Orange County Register

Top 25 countdown: No. 4

August 28th, 2008, 12:01 am · 6 Comments · posted by STEVE FRYER, ocvarsity.com

Mission Viejo4. Mission Viejo (4-6-1) – The Diablos got bounced out of the playoffs quickly last year, by Orange Lutheran, so they are out to make amends. They have the ammo to do so, too.

Allan Bridgford, who has committed to Cal, is one of the top quarterback prospects in the nation. Last year, he completed 135 of 233 passes for 1,792 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Kevin Chandler leads a talented group of receivers. He had 48 catches for 717 yards and eight touchdowns in 2007.

The Diablos are going to run the ball productively, too, behind a good offensive line.

The defensive line also is an asset, and the defensive backfield has two-time All-County cornerback Alex Mascarenas (1), above right.

    OVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRATESDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Allen is a punk, or as my friend bob would say, a N.T.A.C. i think he’ll loose his composure with this new bull spit TV show. kevins good and alex is good to, but 185 i dont think so. haha sorry alex. also what about colton fitch, very underated on this MV team. another question. hows their line this year. typically their ability to pass and rush the ball has been because of their coor line guys i.e. Jeff Baca. (now BRUINing his life) anyway i donno if MV will be ass good this year without the guys they lost

sheehsh!!! has any one taken the time to see the Diablos coaching staff!! any one of those guy’s would be a head coach at most school’s.
iam sure that all ther players are home grown as well, alex mascarenas is the classic case, i belive his roots are in garden grove.
Bob Johnson and his over inflated ego will stop at nothing to claim another paper title!!!

The Diablos have been one and done in the playoffs the last two years.

How long are they going to live on the past of Moline and Sanchez?

They are just another South Coast League Team.

Tesoro and San Clemente Proved that last year.

okay alex mascarenas is supposed to be at Edison. He is home grown in Huntington Beach, he played Pop Warner there and he left to Mission Viejo with another Edison player Freshman year. The other player came back but Alex stayed there because he was already starting 3 varsity sports as a sophmore. So i dont know where you got “Garden Grove” from cnynlf.
