Sea Dog, these are not OC varsity's rankings, they are the official CIF rankings. CIF rankings are done by a conglomerate of selected individuals and any coach that wants to vote. If you are dissapointed, chances are that your coach didn't send in his vote, take it up with him.

Empire fan,
two out of the three leagues you mention all had playoff teams win a first round game last year. The suburban is not what it used to be. La Mirada would be a decent team in the GGL at best, Bellflower has about 20 kids on the whole team and Mayfair lost three of its best players by transfer to another school.
This Division is actually very balanced except for the Orange Coast League, but where are you going to put them?

Geralt - Westminster made it to the 2nd round the last four years in a tougher division than this. They have been seeded #2 three years in a row in that division. They're almost a given for round 2.

What intelligent commentary. Got spellcheck? Oh, wait a minute -- you did spell "week" right, you just used it wrong.

But yes, it's good to get teh Empire league out of the Southern Division, and we wish them all the best in their new division. And I think the PCL will do just fine in the Southern, even with the Suburban in there.

And just matematically, since the GG, Pacific Coast and Golden West will have 9 teams in the playoffs, at least one will make it to the second round. (And don't forget the mighty Orange Coast)

This is one very week division, the Suburban league will clean up on these teams, the Garden Grove,Pacific Coast and Golden West leages are always among the weakest leages in the County, i see why they moved the Empire league out of this division as it was just to easy for them, now maybe the Garden Grove teams or Pacific Coast teams may actually get a team out of the first round of the playoffs, Maybe!!

From what I read last year about Fryers ranking system or who ever does it, goes something like this.....It is not how many games you win but who you played in the nonleague games that they use to rank you. ie. Lets say Garden Grove High school played Marter Dei and maybe a couple of other stronger teams and did well but not really won, it would probably shoot them up there in the rankings with these idiots at OC Varsity

Rancho would be #11, just outside of the top 10.
