Once again it comes down to put up or shut up...

If you can't win teams that are in the top 25, you do not belong in the top 25. Size doesn't matter, coaching "alone" doesn't matter, what matters is the scoreboard at the end of the game against rated teams. Class, Style, Size, Coaching is all icing on the cake and is what separates the Best of the Best.

Please do not give me the would have could have line. If your team did not play rated teams, they do not deserve to be rated. Talk to La Habra, they have kicked some serious butt for a few years but didn't play the big boy's. This year they are putting their money where their mouths are with 2 pre-season games against PAC-5 teams. Even if they lose both games, if the play well, they will get respect and it will be a bit easier to place them on par with other teams.

In the end put up or shut up.

fryer -

Was Irvine a top 25 team in 2000? Because they had 180 lb defensive tackles.....we aren't talking top 10 here, when the one idiot said that said they wouldn't have beaten the "big programs" he's right, but not everybody in the top 25 was a "big program." I wish we could see the top 25 from last year and I'll flat out guarantee that there were teams that St. Maggie's would have beaten and ditto for this year.

honestly fryer, if you wont rate a team in the top 25 because of the size of their linemen you're a joke. This isn't the NCAA, size isn't as much of a factor. Did you even play high school football? Usually you kind of know what you're talking about, but right now, you sound about as bad as Adam Maya.

From my sources, Mr. Fryer has not been to a Tartan football game over the last few years ... Yes, they are a small school that competes against other small schools; however, anyone who has watched them play will confirm that year-in and year-out, they have several players that could start at most any school within Orange County ...

It still amazes me that Mr. Fryer wants to write about a program that he has never taken the time to educate himself about ... Come on down to San Juan Capistrano, Mr. Fryer and see the Tartans up-close and personal ... They will not "bite" you and will only welcome you into their home !!

You may be right about the DT's size but one was nearly CIF defensive mvp and the other made CIF second team. It is not like they are bad, infact they seem to be very talented.

If you agree with me, then you must be wrong!
Hey, I looked at last year's roster we had at ocvarsity.com, to get my information.
This year, St. Margaret's two projected defensive tackles are under 180 pounds. Sure, it's the size of the fight in the dog and not the size of the dog in the fight. But girth and muscle do play a part in those trench battles.
Again, nothing against St. Margaret's. They are beating teams that are at their level, and beating them soundly -- and, most importantly, they do it with class. Congratulations to them.

they would not have beaten other big programs.
their "6'3 260 lb" linemen isnt the type of football player that are at the big programs.

sorry. move along from trying to defend them on this.

St. Margaret's biggest lineman was not 5'8 220 pounds. They had lineman that were 6'3 and 260 pounds. Last year's team would have easily beaten Dana Hills and other big programs.

that's ridiculous....

Go check out De La Salle's roster. Look at all the old Marijon Ancich teams.

This is highschool, not college. Strength of an offensive line is determined by coaching, not size. Harry Welch is the best coach in Orange County.
