Bridgford stands out at Elite 11 camp

Mission Viejo's Allan Bridgford made a statement with his performance this week at the prestigious Elite 11 Quarterback Camp at Soka University in Aliso Viejo.

And what exactly did he say? Matt Barkley isn't the only QB with a great arm in Orange County.

Bridgford, who has committed to Cal, came close to walking away with the top two honors given out at the four-day camp for the top quarterbacks in the nation.

Bridgford finished third in the voting for MVP and was second in the  Accuracy Challenge.

Aaron Murray, of Plant High in Tampa, Fla., won the MVP award, and UCLA commit Richard Brehaut of Los Osos High of Rancho Cucamonga was the runner-up.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Bridgford, who drew strong reviews from camp observers for his accuracy and arm strength, went into the final day of the Accuracy Challenge, a daily competition at the camp, with the lead, but lost the title to  Brehaut.
