Coaching update: Lancers hire baseball coach

July 21st, 2008, 3:15 pm · 3 Comments · posted by DAN ALBANO, ocvarsity.com

Orange Lutheran has hired former Concord De La Salle coach Eric Borba has its baseball coach, Lancers athletic director Mark Davis said moments ago.

Borba coached DLS the past five seasons. The Spartans captured two North Coast Section titles under Borba. Orange Lutheran’s new skipper also won a North Coast title at Analy High in 2000.

Sounds like the Lancers found an excellent coach who knows something about being successful at a school known for football.

  • Very interesting hire by OLu. I’m curious to find out more about the new coach. I’m also curious to find out why OLu went all the way to NoCal, where the baseball is certainly not as good as SoCal, to get a coach when there are a lot of really good coaches in the area. Maybe Borba is the right guy — but just seems odd to overlook so many guys who have great records here in O.C.

the olu lancers are a good baseball team but blow it in the playoff. they should have a down year next year by lossing the best pitcher in oc. they should at least finish in 3rd in the trinity league. but we will see when the season comes around.
