Coin flips were needed to determine the home team for eight second-round playoff games involving Orange County teams. And the winners were …
In CIF-Southern Section Division I, coin flips this morning determined the home teams in these second-round games Tuesday: Los Alamitos at Canyon; Capistrano Valley at Mater Dei; Tesoro at Long Beach Wilson (likely at Blair Field in Long Beach); and Orange Lutheran at El Modena.
In Division III, coin flips this morning determined the home teams in these second-round games Tuesday: Laguna Hills at Paramount; and Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks vs. Calvary Chapel at Vanguard University. No coin flip was needed to make La Quinta the visiting team against California of Whitter.
When two teams meet after the first round of the playoffs, the team with the fewest number of home games at that point of the playoffs is the home team. If they have had an equal number of home games, a coin flip determines the home team.
In Division VII, coin flips made Saddleback Valley Christian the home team against Nuview Bridge (expect that game to be at San Juan Sports Park) and St. Michael’s Prep the visitor against Viewpoint.
First round games will be played today (Friday, May 16) in Divisions II, IV and VI. Second-round games in all divisions are Saturday. Coin flips as needed for Division II, IV and VI second-round games will occur Saturday morning.
