Miss Rebel, I agree 99.9% of what you are saying. The .1% is your last line. My vote also remains with the Savanna Rebel.

Can't gage athlete of the year off of one game or league someone plays in. It should be peer sportsmanship in all sports. I'm sticking with Dominique Williams proven year after year to be the best at what he does. By the way I don't think Mater Dei would blow out Savanna in a basketball game that's for sure!

I agree with Tom, at the end, this is just a popularity contest. Just look at the other male contest ; ). You can't really hold it against Williams for playing in a division lower than Anderson's. That's where he lives. I honestly thought the "higher division" argument would have been thrown in sooner. Don't forget this award is given for accomplishments in the 2007-2008 school year, not for accomplishments that may happen after they graduate. Good luck to both.

I've been to a Savanna basketball game where Dominique was playing. Despite the win, I wasn't very impressed. I heard nothng but how good he was since freshman year. But I came out a bit disappointed after the game. After that game, I rushed over to catch Canyon's game against Mater Dei. And despite the loss, I was very impressed with how Anderson still carried the team. Even though Canyon lost, he still scored the most points out of everyone in that game. What I am trying to say is that anyone can dominate in a sport when the competition isn't much competition at all. I doubt Dominique and the Rebels would stand a better or even an equal chance against Mater Dei's squad. Canyon is at the Division I level whereas Savanna is only at the Division IV. The only reason I bring up basketball is because it is the only sport they have in common.

I don't mean to belittle his accomplishments, but we are looking for an Athlete of the Year here. Williams has proven he can dominate more than one sport.

I agree with Matt Curtis. Although Williams is involved in more sports than Anderson, Anderson is actually going far with his talent in basketball. Everybody reads and hears about how he is "UCLA-bound" and what not. I haven't really read or heard that much about Williams. And also, you should keep in mind the league and division that each player plays in. The difficulty of Savanna's schedule probably isn't as hard as Canyon's (Basketball). And Anderson pretty much led the whole team to the quarter finals of CIF by himself, no offense to the other players on the team. I don't know what all of you would consider "Athlete of the Year" material, but I would definitely choose quality over quantity (seeing as how some of you think Williams should win since he's played more sports than Anderson).
