BOYS AND GIRLS SWIMMING
Fountain Valley at Edison, 3 p.m.
Outlook: This is traditionally a must-see meet just because of the rivalry involved but these teams are offering even more this time around. On the girls side, it could easily turn out to be the best dual meet of the season. Edison is ranked second in the county and actually can make a case for No. 1. The Chargers are just that deep. The Lady Barons are fifth in the county and also very deep. Edison could win a close one. Fountain Valley boys also are a top-10 program and face a Edison squad that has fallen out of the top 10 after being a preseason pick. Can Edison and Tom Shields score an upset against the No. 6 Barons? One thing that is for certain: there will be some fast times and plenty of emotion from each side. Sure, Sunset League finals are just a week away and teams are trying to get some rest, but this is for pride. – Dan Albano
SOFTBALL
Century League
Canyon at El Modena, 3:15 p.m.
Outlook: The Comanches have a much improved offense and freshman ace Cheyanne Tarango, while the Vanguards have a blend of veterans led by Kylie Wagner and Emily McEwen and freshman Haylie Wagner. The winner of this game will have the edge in the league title race. – Carlos Arias
Empire League
Valencia vs. Kennedy at Cypress Arnold Park, 3:15 p.m.
Outlook: Can any team in the Empire League stop Kennedy? Valencia was able to knock off Pacifica, so the Tigers have a slim chance. – Carlos Arias
Sea View League
Trabuco Hills at El Toro, Tuesday, 3:30 p.m.
Outlook: The Chargers have held on to the No. 1 spot in the county rankings for two consecutive weeks, but that could be in jeopardy against the Mustangs, who have turned around their season and put together a nine-game winning streak. – Carlos Arias
South Coast League
Mission Viejo at Tesoro, Tuesday, 3:30 p.m.
Outlook: The Diablos have been the favaorites to win the league title all season, but the Titans have won six of their past seven games and the winner of this game will have sole possession of first place heading into the second round of league play. – Carlos Arias
Sunset League
Los Alamitos at Esperanza, Tuesday, 3:15 p.m.
Outlook: The Aztecs need to bounce back after dropping a game to Edison last week if they hope to have a shot at the league title. – Carlos Arias
Trinity League
Santa Margarita vs. Rosary at Clark Park, Tuesday, 3:15 p.m.
Outlook: The Royals are one of the hottest teams in the county with a six-game winning streak that includes victories over Mission Viejo, El Modena, Beckman and Mater Dei. The Eagles have underperformed in league, but Santa Margarita ace Cassie Monnahan is capable of shutting offenses down and the Eagles own a 6-5 victory over Rosary this season. – Carlos Arias
BOYS LACROSSE
South Coast League
No. 7 Tesoro (11-3, 8-0) at Mission Viejo (9-4, 7-1), 7:30 p.m.
Outlook: First place is in on the line in this showdown. The Titans won the first meeting, March 21, 5-4. Since that loss, the Diablos have won five of their next six. Tesoro on the other hand is on a nine-game winning streak, so something has to give. Mission Viejo was the preseason favorite to win the league. - Damian Calhoun
Boys Volleyball
Rancho Alamitos at Bolsa Grande,5:30 p.m.
Outlook: Rancho Alamitos has a shot at the Garden Grove League title while Bolsa Grande needs a victory to help solidify its playoff chances. Rancho Alamitos won the first meeting in four games. Players to watch include Rancho Alamitos' John Nguyen and Bolsa Grande's Andy Day. -- Adam Maya
