Check out today’s best contests:

Softball
Woodbridge/Victory Softball Classic
Foothill vs. Trabuco Hills at Bill Barber Park, Irvine, 12:30 p.m.

Outlook: The Mustangs stunned the Knights, 4-3, in a Sea View League game last week, so Foothill will be looking to avenge that loss. The Knights upset top-ranked El Modena, 3-2, on Monday thanks to Jaquilyn Edwards’ two-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh. The Foothill-Trabuco Hills winner plays the Fullerton-North Torrance winner for the tournament championship at 7:15 p.m. — Carlos Arias

Boys and Girls Swimming
Fountain Valley at Santa Margarita, 10 a.m.

Outlook: Three of the four varsity teams in this nonleague meet are ranked in the Orange County top-10, and the only one not — the Santa Margarita boys - could capture the Trinity League title. It will be interesting to see how the Barons race. They might feel fatigued considering they dueled earlier this week against Newport Harbor and Long Beach Wilson. Santa Margarita’s boys got a nice swim Thursday from breaststroker Mark Reese, a junior who cracked a minute in the breaststroke. The boys breaststroke should be fast and all two varsity meet should be close. — Dan Albano
