If you have been following the coverage and comments about the recommended playoff groupings for the next two school years, the following news from the Southern Section shouldn’t be too surprising:

The South Coast League has appealed its placement in the Pac-5 Division for football, CIF-SS spokesman Thom Simmons said in an e-mail today.

More surprising to me is the word from Simmons that the South Coast is the only league in the county who has appealed a playoff placement.

The South Coast’s appeal should be heard Monday at a hearing at the Southern Section office in Los Alamitos.
