There are plenty of good candidates out there who would love that CdM football head coaching job. CdM will get a good coach. And there is plenty of time -- spring football is more than a month away. These are CdM kids, who will keep themselves in shape, and there is good supervision still within the program.
Remember what happened at Servite. John Barnes came and went the same day, putting the program in limbo. But Servite got the right guy, eventually, when it hired Troy Thomas. And look what happened in Thomas' three years -- three league championships in the toughest league in the state, and a 5-3 record in the Division I/Pac-5 playoffs. Servite football is thriving.
Corona del Mar is going to be just fine.

I think you are right that CDM will be fine, however I do feel there is the right person for the job. Paul Babbington applied today and I hope they give him serious consideration. Paul was an assistant at one of the nation's premier high schools, DeMatha High School, and has worked with OCJAAF and other youth organizations over the last few years. He also lives in CDM.
I think CDM would be lucky to have him in such a short period of time before spring ball. He already has a staff and does not necessarily need a teaching position.
A no-brainer!
For a new coach to be actually on the job for the first time in May puts the team in a real disadvantage. Ask any head coach in the county about starting this late. They'd be so stressed and upset.
Remember, Thomas was announced as the Friars' new coach in early March.
