He hasn’t played a down of his senior season, but apparently game organizers consider Matt Barkley a safe pick.

The Mater Dei quarterback, who likely will be among the top-ranked seniors in the nation next season, was selected to play in the Under Armour All-America High School Football Game that is scheduled for Jan. 4.

High school all-star games have become popular venues for uncommitted players to announce their college choices, but there won’t be any drama involving college caps for Barkley. He already has committed to USC.
