Santa Margarita standout linebacker John Michael Davis (6-1, 220) , who will be a senior in the fall, has enrolled at Tesoro, Titans athletic director Gil Ramirez confirmed this morning. Davis' brother, Seth, also has enrolled at Tesoro. Seth is a freshman, Ramirez said.
Santa Margarita's football website -- www.eaglesfootball.com -- lists Seth as a member of the freshman football team this past fall at Santa Margarita.
The boys were enrolled at Tesoro as of Tuesday, Ramirez said.
Last season, John Michael Davis was Santa Margarita's third leading tacklers with 76 total tackles. He also had 1.5 sacks and one INT.
Tesoro will be John Michael Davis' third school. Before attending Santa Margarita, he was at Orange Lutheran. As a freshman, he was a wide receiver/defensive back for the varsity Lancers (according to ocvarsity.com -- he nine catches that season).
John Michael Davis is a Division I prospect. He has good size, speed and strength, tackles well and seemed to play pretty physical. I believe last season he was an inside linebacker. He has been a key player for the Eagles the past two seasons, including their run to the Pac-5 Division semifinals in 2006.
On paper -- this move will be help Tesoro's football team, which I believe already was already looking like a potential top-10 team in the county.
My biggest question: Are more players on the way to Tesoro? That question interests me because Tesoro has not been know to get many transfers for football.
In water polo, Tesoro has certainly lost some key players to transfers -- namely Spencer and Zach White to El Toro (and incoming freshman brother Griffin followed, too)
