The CIF-Southern Section announced this afternoon that Mission Viejo’s varsity football team has forfeited two nonleague victories for using an ineligible player.
As these were not league victories, the forfeitures do no affect Mission Viejo’s standing as a South Coast League playoff representative.
The victories forfeited: Sept. 1 vs. Moeller of Cincinnati; Sept. 7 vs. Redondo Union of Redondo Beach.
The ineligible player was someone who played only in those first two games, as the Diablos won their third game, against La Costa Canyon, and did not forfeit that victory.
Mission Viejo’s record now s 4-5-1.
