The Friars are beating St. John Bosco, 31-6, with 3:30 left in that game.
As Lutheran will have a victory over Mater Dei and Servite beat Orange Lutheran two weeks ago, that probably would convince the 10 voters in the county top 10 poll to give Servite their No. 1 vote.
The last time Servite was ranked No. 1 in the county? I don’t know. But I know Servite has not been No. 1 in OC since 1990.

Since a “Number 1 Ranking” - You may need to look back to the 83 or 84 seasons. Maybe not that far, but far. Good job Friars!!!! I would hope that some of the Servite talent pool would change their letters of intent to ASU. Erickson as coach persuaded John Elway to send his son Jack there.

Servite looked good on both sides of the ball. Should have seen more of Emard and Urell on offense. We hope for a good game next week. Good play calling by the coach. WE have never lost to OL…..nice!

servite will win because md didn’t buy ferrari’s for their recruits. I am from the 1984 class. that was when MD was Servites chew toy. mater dei will win when they transfer more swiss bank accounts to recruits.

Looks like a classic matchup next week. Servite vs. Mater Dei. Memories of the 1982 game where both were undefeated in league Servite was ranked #1 and Mater Dei was ranked #2 in the OC polls. The game was delayed 35 minutes due to too many people in the stands and the aisles had to be cleared by the fire marshal. Beuerlein throws an interception on Servite’s opening drive that was returned for a TD. Well, that was the last time we heard Mater Dei’s band (other than halftime). Final score Servite 42 MD 7.

“Luie Rodriguez” I remember that game. One of the headlines in the OC Register coined Servite as “The Road Warriors” that year. Good times, good times…
